About Bawn Lodge
Bawn Lodge occupies a substantial house on Hoole Road, the kind of solid, welcoming building that suits a proper hotel stay rather than a flying visit. It sits within easy reach of Chester's centre, making it a practical base for exploring the city and the surrounding Cheshire countryside.
Rooms are en-suite, clean and generously sized, with comfortable beds and family rooms available for those travelling with children. There's a bar stocked with a decent range of ales, a restaurant serving food including kids' meals, and free WiFi throughout. Breakfast is a highlight, with both a buffet and cooked options to choose from, and there's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, plus a games room for entertainment on site.
Staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel offers 24 hour reception and luggage storage for ease of arrival and departure. Free on-site parking is a useful bonus given the location, and there are pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evenings out. It's a straightforward, well-run choice for anyone wanting comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation within reach of Chester's attractions.
What guests say
Another great stay at Bawn Lodge - Staff all very friendly and helpful and our room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and sets you up for the day, and the menu choice in the restaurant is very good as is the food. A good bar serving numerous beers and lagers, and the beer garden is excellent and extensive. 15 minute walk from Chester town centre makes this an ideal place to stay when visiting the area. Highly recommended 👍

Great pub great food but please can you not pipe Ibiza rave up music into the beer garden as most of the clientele like myself are over 35 and just want a pleasant afternoon enjoying the sunshine and hospitality. Thanks Victor Meldrew.

I booked a room for 1 night at the Bawn Lodge for me, my husband and my 4 year old daughter. I initially had trouble booking online so I rang them directly and got through to a lovely lady who was very friendly and helpful. I mentioned to the lady who made our booking that we were visiting Chester Zoo for my daughter's 4th birthday (hence the visit to the B&B). The lady gave lots of recommendations regarding the zoo visit of stuff she thought would be useful to know. We also discovered on entering our room that the lady had put happy birthday banners and balloons all around the room for my daughter which I thought was incredibly sweet and my daughter was over the moon (she loves a good balloon or two!) We paid £85 for 1 night in room 11 which had 1 single bed and 1 double bed, I thought this to be very reasonable. Although me and my husband didn't find the mattress on the double bed very comfortable, our daughter slept like a log on the single bed. Music downstairs went on untill around 11ish when last orders were called and noise after that from downstairs and on the street were minimal. Complimentary mini toiletries in the bathroom which was nice. There was also tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets in the room and little packs of biscuits which my daughter also loved (no mini fridge available which people may find useful). We had our tea in the B&B on the night we arrived. Prices were very reasonable and the food was lovely. My husband particularly enjoyed his lamb shank which he said had plenty meat on (unlike some other places where the isn't alot of meat on). Overall we very much enjoyed our visit and we would definitely visit again ourselves and make recommendations to friends and family to stay aswell 😊 I hate to leave anything bad but the only recommendation I would have is that the rooms could do with a deep clean, particularly with dust webs around near the ceiling. And also the room could benefit from some black out curtains as the sun does shine through quite abit on a morning 🌅😊
