North Farm Lodge

North Farm Lodge is a converted property on the ground floor, sleeping four in two bedrooms with two bathrooms. The open-plan living space centres on a kitchen with electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and breakfast bar, flowing into a dining and sitting area with Smart TV. One bedroom has a super king bed; the other has two single beds that zip together. Both rooms have their own shower room with walk-in or cubicle shower and heated towel rail. Underfloor central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. There is a private garden with seating and parking for two cars.

The Lodge sits on Mersea Island, reached via the Stood causeway—worth checking tide times before you cross. The location suits walkers and bird-watchers, with miles of quiet coastline within steps of the door. The island's beaches are sand and shingle, often peaceful enough to have them largely to yourself. Colchester lies 9 miles away with its castle and zoo; Dedham Vale and Constable country are within reach. A pub is 1.5 miles off; the nearest supermarket 3 miles. The area draws food-minded visitors: a working oyster fishery is minutes' walk away, and local restaurants and cafés dot the island. Red squirrels are known to nest around the property. Smoking is not permitted inside.
