About Bakesdown Farm
Deep in the Cornish countryside, just four miles from Widemouth Bay, Bakesdown Farm offers proper old-school camping on a tiny, secluded site with no bar, no entertainment – just the crackle of your firepit under starry skies. Each of the three pitches comes with private bathroom amenities (composting loos and showers), and while there's no electric hook-up, there are charging points in the farmyard alongside communal fridges and freezers for your locally-sourced goodies from Bude's markets.
The owners lend books and toys to families, and the peaceful, remote location makes this a genuine wildlife haven and walkers' paradise. Some visitors note the facilities can feel a touch rustic, but that's part of the charm for those seeking a wilder escape.
Within twenty minutes you'll reach Bude's surf beaches and the South West Coast Path, while kayaking, cycling, climbing and riding are all nearby – though you might find it hard to leave your private patch of Cornish tranquillity.

Quite simply one of the most beautiful campsites I’ve ever stayed on. Super flat pitch on a gorgeous rewilded field, private hot gas shower and composting toilet (no smell, it’s great), big firepit and even a table and chairs to sit and eat and enjoy the sunset. Total privacy and peace and quiet - nothing but birdsong, lambs bleating and insects buzzing around the wildflowers. Anna and Brad were such friendly and helpful hosts, and they have created a little semi-wild heaven with these three pitches (we stayed on Gatekeeper) - staying here feels genuinely good for the soul. We’re coming back here as soon as we can!

An amazing place to stay if. A little piece of heaven and peace. Despite the simplicity of any off-grid and nature-supporting place like this, it has so much more than expected, a great little private kitchen, private warm shower, and your own private field. It feels so authentic and relaxed. If you need power to charge anything, there is a central place with lockers where you can safely leave things to charge.

Absolutely loved my stay at this campsite. Our group stayed in the simply camping fields and thought it was set out incredibly well with the impeccably kept toilet and warm shower only a few seconds up the road. The surrounding area was gorgeous and the people were mostly incredibly friendly. The campsite owners were incredibly kind and created a relaxing and peaceful experience. Thank you so much!

Amazing place, can't recommend it highly enough. The people who ran it see fantastically lovely and the wood cabin is truly amazing. Wonderful eco-friendly camping witty so much space, privacy and solitude on-site. Not too far from Widemouth Bay beach for surfing and easy to get to Bude for food and shops and Tintagel and Boscastle for sights and walks.
