Old Newham Farm Cottages - Nutmeg’s

Photo: Old Newham Farm

Nutmeg's sits on a working farm near Camelford, converted from a traditional stone building arranged around a medieval cobbled yard. The cottage has an unusual split-level layout, with high ceilings, exposed beams, and a striking internal chimney housing a real wood-burning stove. Slate floors and a galleried landing add to its character without sacrificing comfort—there's oil central heating throughout, and the essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included.

The ground floor holds the kitchen, which has everything needed for self-catering: electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine. Upstairs, a spacious living and dining area opens onto views of the private garden and countryside beyond, with a woodburner and smart TV. Two bedrooms sleep four: a double bed on the first floor and two single beds in the second bedroom, which has a Velux window. The single bathroom has a bath with shower over. One dog stays free of charge, and the enclosed garden provides outdoor space with furniture for sitting out.

The North Cornwall coast is a short drive away, with access to beaches including Widemouth Bay, Trebarwith Strand and Crackington Haven. The property has parking for two cars on site. No smoking is permitted.

We have just had a fantastic stay at Old Newham Farm Cottage and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, Chris made us feel incredibly welcome and was the perfect host throughout our stay. The cottage was immaculate, cosy, and exceptionally well equipped, with everything we needed for a relaxing break. It was lovely to come back each evening after exploring the stunning Cornish coast. We travelled with our two German Shepherds, and this was one of the most dog-friendly places we’ve stayed. They were made to feel just as welcome as we were, and there were plenty of great walks and open spaces nearby for them to enjoy. Being able to holiday somewhere so welcoming to larger dogs made all the difference. The location is ideal for exploring beautiful places such as Boscastle, Port Isaac, Tintagel, and the surrounding countryside, while still being wonderfully peaceful and quiet. A huge thank you to Chris for making our holiday so enjoyable. We would happily return and will definitely recommend Old Newham Farm Cottage to family and friends. Five stars in every respect!

This place is fantastic. It takes you back into traditional Cornish history. It has been very carefully renovated to keep its original character. Mary and Christopher make you feel at home in their Cornish Cottages. They make everyone feel happy and safe in the current COVID situation. We are definitely rebooking next year…or even sooner! (We are more than satisfied)

Cant recommend enough! Chris & Mary are so helpful and friendly, they have thought of everything. We stayed in Stables cottage, so charming and comfortable, set in beautiful quiet country surroundings. The cream tea was a lovely touch! We will definitely return!
