The Wheelhouse occupies the upper floor of a Victorian building in Saint Austell, reached by a series of stone and internal stairs—44 steps to the entrance, then further flights within. This elevated position matters because it means you walk into an open-plan living space with river views across to the coast. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering: electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and microwave. One bedroom has a double bed with an ensuite shower; the other has two singles. Both have heated towel rails, and there is a further shower room for shared use.
Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are provided. A pub operates downstairs. Mevagissey Harbour, a working fishing port with seafood restaurants and boat trips, sits nearby. The position suits those comfortable with stairs but may not work for anyone with mobility constraints. Parking is on-road subject to availability, or use the public car park with charges. No smoking indoors. Check-in is after 4pm, checkout before 10am.

We have been here a couple of times. Both times we had great service and could not fault the food. As a bonus they also let the dog in. We will be back.

What a brilliant location, on the harbour, lovely room, great places to eat on the doorstep and then cracking good pubs around the corner. Fantastic doesn't get better than this!👌

The owner gave us a warm welcome and the food and wine were very reasonably priced. The toasted crab sandwich on sourdough was delicious and the service was prompt and courteous. We sat outside in the sun with a view of the harbour through a windbreak.

Service n/a. Out of season trip for Valentine's weekend. We only spent a night here but the clean cosy room looked out onto the harbour...so really lovely! Very convenient location for places to eat, things to do. 24hr public parking a short walk away, near the lighthouse.
