About Fowey Hall
Fowey Hall occupies a Queen Anne-style Victorian mansion on a hillside above the town, its grand proportions and turrets said to have inspired Toad Hall in The Wind in the Willows. Set in its own grounds with views over Fowey harbour and out towards St Austell Bay, it is one of the more architecturally distinctive hotels on this stretch of coast.
The hotel is run specifically as a family hotel, with a strong emphasis on making space for children without compromising on comfort for adults: a kids' club, complimentary evening childcare, a games room, cinema room and family library sit alongside an outdoor pool, a smaller indoor pool, a hot tub and a spa offering Elemis treatments. Bedrooms range from standard doubles to larger family suites, many with sea or garden views, and the restaurant holds an AA Rosette for its Cornish-leaning menu.
Its hillside position means a short walk down into Fowey itself, past gardens and quiet lanes, while the hotel's own grounds and pools give families a reason to stay put for a day at a time. It suits multi-generational groups and parents wanting a proper break rather than a stripped-back boutique stay, and its 2023 refurbishment has kept the public rooms feeling current without losing the building's period character.

What guests say
Absolutely outstanding, I went with my best friend on our annual girly get away, we had beautiful spa treatments, the spa facilities are very nice, beautiful scenery, the service was fantastic in every department. Now that I have been there though, I want to go back with my children, they are so well catered for there, they would have as much fun and relaxation as the adults, they even do childrens massage! My son is going to be so happy! The evening food was lovely, my main could have been better but that was just personal preference. The breakfast was fantastic and checkout was a breeze. Thank you Fowel Hall, your people and your history are absolutely magical.

We have visited Fowey Hall hotel every year for 4 years. It’s a brilliant place for families - the onsite childcare, cinema room, two swimming pools, playground and plenty of activities for kids. We highly recommend it. We always get a 2 bed room with bunk beds in the second room for the kids. Breakfast is a good spread, lunch and dinner has adult and child options and the bar is well stocked. Staff are friendly and helpful. This is one of the few places where I am willing to let my children roam and explore - they are safe and well entertained here.

We had the cream tea here, it was nothing special, the scones were not very sweet and a strange brown colour (could be wholemeal flour used) not like a conventional scone. They put a charge on the bill whether you agree with it or not . The surroundings and hotel are beautiful and very well kept, staff were friendly ( a tad forgetful when we requested something but took another attempt of asking before we got it) Definitely had better....

Beautiful hotel with exceptional view. Rooms large, modern, comfy and quiet. Service slow and not really an acceptable for the price. Table service unlikely or incredibly long wait on the terrace, much quicker go up to get your own menu and order drinks at the bar than trying to flag down staff to take your order. That said staff are all friendly, just not proactive / attentive.
