Not the worst but won't be back with the kids again. Booked as a last minute family break. Swimming is limited for children even during half term. Kids wanted to play darts. Tried to book it. They told me they were closing the bar at 10pm. It was 9.30pm. They said I needed to book the darts online. I tried and the system kept saying it was fully booked. I asked if the darts would prevent them from closing to which I was told it wouldn't. So I ordered a drink, wish I hasn't bothered as we couldn't play darts anyway. I know they have facility to set it up as they offer free darts intervals. Well they wasn't very accommodating when I asked if there's a loop hole so I can pay and they book us on. No help at all. The temperature couldn't be helped. The hotel can't control it but no air con in rooms. No option to open the window more than 3 cm wide. So all in all, food was pretty average ( although my son said his wings were amazing) the rooms were tidy enough but unbearable. Shower water pressure poor. The staff could be more accommodating as it's half term and the kids want to be active. The swimming times are limiting as it clashes with lunch dinner etc so not ideal. It's not old and tatty, it's not dirty but it's just not good enough for us to revisit. A shame really as those few tweaks could make a huge difference on customer satisfaction.

I’ve just hosted my Funnel Training event at Village Hotel Coventry, and I honestly can’t praise the team highly enough. We stayed for four nights and made full use of the hotel – swimming pool, spa, bar and restaurant – and every part of the experience was brilliant. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was welcoming, and as a group of business women we felt genuinely looked after from start to finish. A huge thank you to Michael and Adrian, who made sure we had everything we needed for the event – nothing was ever too much trouble. Kayleigh and Jess were fantastic, making sure all our meals and snacks arrived on time and exactly as needed. The bar staff – Crystal, Aud, Ashleigh and Millie – were wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. I also have to give a special mention to Emelie, who helped me put on false eyelashes for the first time… now that is service you don’t forget! And finally, thank you to Amanda and the rest of the housekeeping team – the place was immaculate throughout and everyone was so friendly. We were so well cared for that as a group we’ve already decided to book again next year with the same hotel chain. Fingers crossed the team at Ashleigh on Lyne are just as great. Thank you all for making our event such a success. — Paula

It was very modern and clean. I had requested a room not too far from the lift and they actually read and gave me a lovely room. Downstairs was a sports bar and grill and with the football on, I expected it to be noisy and zero parking. Not the case, quiet, very comfortable bed...and easy parking. I was irked that I had to pay just to park overnight but I should have read the small print. It's 5 pounds at weekends and 7 weekdays. Non the less as the hotel was value for money, the paid parking was just a blip. Modern check in that of course had teething problems...human error...so they didn't save on reception staff as they had to be there to help us navigate the system. Soon I won't be able to go anywhere at all since biometrics refuses to recognize my wonky eye....

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our stay at Village Hotel Coventry was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The first surprise was that guests are charged £7.50 per day for parking and £5 per day to use the gym. I have stayed at many hotels where these facilities are included for paying guests, so this was unexpected. During our stay there was an extreme heatwave. For the first week, we were unable to open our room window because scaffolding outside the hotel was blocking it. The room became extremely hot and uncomfortable. I asked reception for a fan but was told they had none available, so I had to go out and buy my own. I also requested additional coat hangers and was told they did not know if any were available. No one followed up. The room service experience was also very disappointing. The information in the room stated that room service delivery was free, but there was no clear ordering code or instructions. I had to go to the bar to place the order. On the first evening, I arrived at approximately 9:15 pm, despite the advertised last food order time being 9:30 pm, and was told the kitchen was already closed. We tried again the following evening and were then told there was a £3.50 room service surcharge. One of the items we paid for was missing from the order, and when I reported it, I was told the kitchen was closed and nothing could be done. Due to the overall experience, we decided to leave early and move to another hotel. At reception, I was told that the unused nights could not be refunded. They also said they would look into refunding the gym and parking charges, but those refunds have not been processed. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations. The lack of clear communication, unexpected additional charges, poor service, and lack of resolution made this a very frustrating experience. We will not be staying at Village Hotel Coventry again.
