Portinscale sits on the northern shores of Derwentwater, with Keswick a mile away by road or a 20-minute walk across fields. The Farmer's Arms is 100 yards down the lane; cafés, a marina and restaurants cluster nearby. From the house itself, you can walk straight to the lake for sailing, canoeing or a trip on the launch. The fells—Catbells among them—are accessible on foot, and the area suits walkers and cyclists well.
Heatherside is a semi-detached house sleeping five across three bedrooms: a king, two singles, and one further single. The bathroom has a bath with shower; there is also a separate toilet downstairs. A conservatory and enclosed garden give plenty of space to spread out, and the garden furniture makes good use of the views across the fells. Two cars can park on site; bikes store in the garage.
The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, with electric cooker and double oven. Essentials including electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered. A washing machine is in the garage, and travel cot and highchair are available if needed. No smoking inside.
