About Hafod Hall Camping Club

Tucked away near Bylchau in the Denbighshire hills, Hafod Hall Camping Club offers a genuinely wild camping experience that's open year-round for hardy souls. With 24 tent pitches and three campervan spots scattered across open ground, this is proper back-to-basics stuff—campfires are positively encouraged, and the mountain backdrop more than compensates for the lack of frills like Wi-Fi or chemical disposal. Facilities cover the essentials: showers, toilets, and drinking water keep things civilised.

Families and dog owners appreciate the relaxed vibe, though some reviews note the site can feel a touch rustic even by wild camping standards. If you're after a straightforward, fire-friendly base for exploring the Clwydian hills without polish or pretence, Hafod Hall delivers exactly that.

Absolutely stunning. Plenty of campsites to choose from, each with a firepit set up (and a HUGE log basket available from reception. I was only expecting a little basket and so struggled to carry the thing up the path), varying from open fields, under a few trees for a little bit of shade and in the middle of a forest and each one a nice distance away form each other, so you're not having the neighbours stare at you the entire time. The views are amazing and all of the sites are tiered, so it's your choice whether or not you'd prefer a closer site to the car for carrying things up or right up the top to get a view of the full night sky. Toilets and showers available on site, alongside a water tap for washing up/refilling bottles, though they are at the bottom of the hill, so prepare yourself before heading up for the night. I had the unfortunate timing to get caught in one of the bigger thunderstorms Wales has had for a while, so didn't get to see the night sky, but the day had been the most relaxed I've ever been. I can't wait to go back and try it all again.

Had a brilliant night in one of the pods. It’s a great option for wild camping with a bit of extra convenient. They have clean, nice showers and toilets on site. Fire pits just outside the pods and excellent firewood on site. Sam, Tony and Grant, the hosts, are unbelievably nice people. They really made sure our stay was made perfect in every single way. Can’t recommend this place enough. Will be returning without a doubt . The images will surely speak for themselves.

Five of us had a night of wild camping here and it was fantastic. A lovely run family business! Grant looked after us and was amazing with all our needs. He took all of our stuff up to our spot so none of us had to carry anything. Gave us plenty of time to settle in and never rushed us when leaving. Grant took lots of time to have a chat with us and tell us the history of the site and find out what we were interested in. Was a very chilled and friendly atmosphere. One of the best sites we’ve been on, we’ll definitely be back!
