About Leonardo Hotel Derby

A generous breakfast spread with plenty of choice sets the tone at Leonardo Hotel Derby, a ten-storey, 213-room hotel on King Street in the heart of Derby. Beyond breakfast, there's a restaurant and bar on site, along with room service and the option of a packed lunch for guests heading out for the day.

Rooms come with air conditioning, free WiFi and drinks available on request, and accessible rooms are available for those who need them. The hotel also has a gym, meeting rooms and business facilities, making it as suited to work trips as leisure stays, plus laundry service and luggage storage for practical convenience. Overall our stay was pleasant and we had a good night's sleep, the cleanliness of the bathroom was not something we would have complained about as it wasn't very bad, but because you asked the question, I'll give an honest answer. The Advantage Club question has a low score, due to the fact that the most prominent membership benefits stated on the website are free room upgrade, and complimentary late checkout, when we arrived and asked about both these membership benefits we were told its not possible for the room upgrade, and late checkout is something that I'd have to ask for in the morning of checkout, this wasn't made aware to us beforehand as it does say "complimentary late checkout" on the website. We had to adjust our plans as we couldn't rely on being allowed the late checkout which caused significant inconvenience.

Overall we were extremely happy with our stay. Reception staff and bar/restaurant staff were professional and friendly, making time to chat. The advantage club was a bonus and gave us 15% of meals and drinks. Would definitely stay again.

Rating: 1/5 Disgusting service, dirty rooms, and racist staff – avoid at all costs. My stay at the Leonardo Derby was a nightmare from the moment I walked in. The room itself was filthy – stained carpets, grimy bathroom, and an overall unhygienic feel. I wouldn’t let my worst enemy sleep there. Worse than the room, though, was the staff. They were incredibly rude and condescending. When I arrived, they accused me of booking the wrong date and made me feel like an idiot – only to later discover they had made the error themselves. No apology, no accountability – just arrogance. To make matters worse, I experienced openly dismissive and discriminatory treatment that made me feel completely unwelcome. The mannerism was disgusting – stuck-up, unprofessional, and frankly racist. If you value your money, your comfort, or your dignity – do not book here. Stay away. There are plenty of better hotels in Derby that actually respect their guests.

It was an okay experience, the hotel is big, spacious, it has a good view to the city however is in need to update their design and rooms, the room felt a little old. The service was ok but also not really friendly, it felt like the staff was tired/impatient which makes me ask myself how they are being treated... The location is also okay however it's oddly positioned in a way the Ubers drop you off and pick you up in a random street and you need to walk up to the hotel. The breakfast is okay but overpriced for what it offers, it was not mentioned to us that we could book in advance to pay less in the check in so we needed up paying a higher price in the morning at breakfast. It was an okay experience but not impressive.
