What visitors say

Mariam Elahi

A beautiful and peaceful place to visit, especially if you're looking to enjoy nature and a relaxing walk. The canal offers a lovely walking route surrounded by beautiful scenery, with the sounds of birds and the chance to spot ducks and geese along the way. It's a perfect place for a leisurely stroll, whether you're on your own, with family, or with friends. At one end of the canal, you'll find the Visitor Centre, set in a picturesque location among rolling green hills. The surrounding area has plenty of open space for children to play, as well as benches and seating areas where you can relax and enjoy the views of the countryside, including grazing sheep and horses. Inside the Visitor Centre, there's a charming, traditional interior that provides a cosy setting for an informal meeting or simply a quiet break. There's also a small café, and at weekends they often have live music, which adds to the atmosphere. The other end of the canal leads to Marsden railway station, making it easy to reach by public transport or to enjoy as a one-way walk. Overall, it's a wonderful place to unwind, take in the scenery, and spend a few peaceful hours in nature. I'd highly recommend a visit.

Great day out, lots of things to see and do. The volunteers were amazing and did their up most to make sure that everybody had a great day. Good choice of food and snacks in the cafe at great prices. We went on the 30 minute trip into the tunnel which was really informative. The volunteers on the boat made the experience even more entertaining with their amusing commentary. Highly recommended for a day out with the family.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Very easy to park if you have a Blue badge, but spaces are limited. Very good wheelchair access along the tow paths. We stopped for refreshments at the cafe and really appreciated the help accessing the disabled toilet. A very successful and enjoyable visit. Thank you.
