About Abergwynant Farm Glamping
Richard took over this 400-acre family farm in 2020 from his nan Doris, who still tends the gardens – and yes, there really is a Highland cow called Bonnie with a weakness for custard creams. Set in the foothills of Cadair Idris within Eryri National Park, the site takes in lakes, forests and old gold mines, with clean facilities (shower and toilet block, cooking shelter) and a choice of non-electric grass pitches or electric gravel touring spots. Some guests find parts of the site feeling a little tired, but the stunning mountain views and peaceful surroundings more than compensate.
The real draw is the direct, road-free access to the Mawddach Trail – perfect for walks or bike rides to Barmouth, Dolgellau or Fairbourne, with a handy pub about 40 minutes along the path. Between the scenery, the friendly welcome and those quirky resident animals, it's a characterful Snowdonia base.

I spoke with Richard beforehand to mention the occasion, and upon arrival, he had prepared some thoughtful decorations and a birthday card—such a kind gesture! The entire team was friendly and welcoming, especially Andy, who provided excellent recommendations on where to go and what to explore in the local area.

My wife and 2 dogs stayed in probably the hottest 3 days of the year so far. Richard was very accommodating by supplying us with a fan to keep the dogs cool. The cabin we stayed in was fully equipped with top notch appliances. There are lovely forest walks which kept us cool. We couldn't fault the location or service. Would defiantly return, 5STARS

This is a beautiful location. And vety convenient ro the trails at Abergynnant Woods. And the Mawdach trail. The proprietors are friendly and very helpful. We stayed in The Granary and have only one minor issue in that one of us is very tall and the opportunities for head bumping are numerous, especially in the bedroom. We had an amazing time here, such a picturesque location. Very clean and welcoming. Close to nature and a stream. Ponies, horses, Highland cow and Highland sheep on the farm. Richard, John and Doris are very friendly and hospitable. We would love to come here again!
