Tucked into a sheltered valley of ancient oak woods on the fringes of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, Cefn Coed occupies 75 acres of historic Welsh farmland with the nearest neighbours nearly a mile away. Choose from grassy field pitches, atmospheric woodland spots on a forest floor, or secluded wooded plots for campervans—each setting offers genuine peace and knockout Cadair Idris views. The Mawddach Trail runs close by, leading walkers and cyclists to Dolgellau, Fairbourne and Barmouth, while the estuary below beckons wild swimmers and canoeists.
Facilities strike a lovely balance: hot showers, filtered mountain-spring water, phone-charging points and a communal freezer keep things practical, while the high-season bar pours local ales and cocktails alongside a popular wood-fired pizza truck. Guided walks, bushcraft sessions and foraging courses add extra flavour. Pitches are first-come-first-served and parking by your spot isn't always guaranteed, so be prepared for a short carry. Thoroughly recommend this family-run haven of peace and restoration. Wonderful location close to the stunning Mawddach Estuary, with a great outside bar and kitchen on site and thoughtfully positioned, private and natural pitches. Great showers and loos, and laid back but attentive staff with thoughtful additions to the site all round. Would suit group retreats and sustainable leadership getaways as well as a restorative break for couples like us. Thank you to everyone for making our visit so special, and for looking after such beautiful woods and grounds so we can visit and get back to being human again ❤️

Great find perfect off grid camping experience . We choose the open field with the goats , as we found the woodland too dark in the day . There was horses, goats, alpacas and sheep to keep us company . The farmhouse at the top of the hill had a adjacent small shop showers and toilets with a bar area offering wood fired pizzas at the weekend we did feel the drinks were a little pricey and the bar was quite so only had the one then retreated back to our own stash . The field we were in was split by fences which only had a makeshift toilet in the far field a bit of a trek and a longer walk to the farm at the top if you wanted a better option not a place to be caught short !. Near to Barmouth and a lovely walk from on site along the Estuary one way took you to a lovely pub which sat alongside the still functioning toll bridge and the food offering was excellent as was the drinks on offer , lovely view point from the beer garden . If you went the other way you came to the waterfalls which we never did but talking to others apparently it's spectacular . We did feel a toilet in each field would be a advantage

Some great spots, lovley views and protection from wind. Isolated visually from others. Great walk nearby and can forget about driving. Good facilities and no tokens for showers.

Nice site. Shame about owner with aggressive dog that is out of control and attacked my dog unprovoked. Sad and let's down my birthday trip. Paid extra to bring my dogs and abide by the "dogs on lead" rule only to find owner doesnt abide by his own rules and let's his aggressive dog free roam.
