Tucked into its own wooded valley within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, this tiny, remote campsite sits on the lower slopes of Cader Idris, about four miles from Dolgellau. Mountains rise all around, the Afon Gwynant river runs along the site's edge, and mobile signal is entirely absent—making it a genuine escape for walkers and nature lovers. Campers enjoy full 24-hour access to the hostel's facilities, including hot showers, a self-catering kitchen, lounge, drying room, and a licensed bar serving local ales at very reasonable prices.

The on-site menu offers everything from full Welsh breakfasts and home-cooked evening meals to packed lunches for days out exploring the spectacular scenery. Barbecues and campfires are allowed, and there's space for motorcycles and student groups. Note that dogs aren't permitted (except registered assistance dogs), and some facilities, though functional, can feel a touch dated despite the 2015 kitchen and downstairs loo refurb.
