About Longfield Caravan Park

Ever stayed at a touring park with talking parrots on site and a ski slope a couple of minutes' walk away? Those are just two of the treats at Longfield Caravan Park, a premium family-run site in the wonderful Dorset countryside. The chatty birds have been living in the aviaries here for more than 50 years, and they've become a popular attraction. The lovely solar-heated outdoor pool is another excellent feature – safely fenced off to give parents peace of mind.

The touring pitches (on gravel and grass, with space for an awning) are nicely laid out around this parkland setting, with mature hedges and pine trees providing shade and privacy. Handy facilities include a launderette, Elsan point, grey waste disposal and bathrooms with male and female showers and toilets, plus accessible options.

Location-wise, this site scores highly too – easily accessed from the A338, about halfway between Ringwood and Christchurch. That puts you within easy reach of the New Forest National Park, the Dorset coast and heaps of great family activities. Or simply walk to SnowTrax Alpine Activity Centre (500 metres away) or cross the road to walk your dog across the heath.

Unfortunately left a day early as the "overflow pitch" we were put on was only 15ft from a busy main road and rather than a relaxing experience it was a stressful one. The draft from the passing cars actually moved the tent door! An offer to move us was made (too much of a faff at that stage), though a refund would have been preferable (I asked and was denied). The owners were generally friendly and others seemed to be enjoying it there, so it seemed like our pitch was the worst one. Stayed for the weekend, this was a great little site, run by a very welcoming family. The pool was a bonus and our daughter loved the birds in the aviary. Lovely and peaceful on site, we had a really relaxing stay and would come back again.
