Sundial House

Photo: Sundial House

Sundial House opens directly into a light living room with sofas and wooden floors, where large windows frame views across Lyme Bay towards the Jurassic Coast. The ground floor also holds a bathroom with bath and shower. Climb to the first floor and you'll find the dining room and kitchen—fitted with electric oven, hob, dishwasher and all essentials for self-catering. The second floor contains two bedrooms, one with a patio door that leads out to the garden. The top floor has another bedroom and a second bathroom with bath and shower.

Four bedrooms sleep nine: two kingsize beds, a bunk bed with a single bed nearby, and another bunk bed. Bed linen, towels, electricity and wi-fi are provided. The property sits on the seafront in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast. A front terrace and rear courtyard both have garden furniture. Access is via a footpath only. Lyme Regis itself is a working town with pubs, restaurants and a fishing harbour; the South West Coastal Path is on your doorstep, and fossil hunting is a local pursuit. Langmoor & Lister Gardens lie nearby for quieter afternoons.

We absolutely loved our time at the Sundial House--we were there four nights. The views, especially from the dining area, are unbeatable. We sat in front of the open windows and looked at the bay. Great restaurants at the door, a view of the Cobb, and really eccentric and original house. Great kitchen, well outfitted. We felt lucky. Top floorplan is a little odd in that one bedroom is only accessible through a bathroom, but again, it's an older and unusual house & that's just how it is! Communication was great, too.

Charming spacious house of character in one of the best locations in Lyme right on the seafront yet set a little back with lovely small patio overlooking the beach, bay and cobb. Stunning views. Well equipped with everything you need and Mark is very helpful and responsive. The ability to load /unload car right outside the house and free parking 10 mins walk away were fantastic too. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful weekend at Sundial House. It’s probably one of the most unique and admired buildings in Lyme Regis. The house was warm and comfortable, and the owners were very responsive to any questions. The kitchen was well equipped, and had everything we needed. The view couldn’t have been better — looking straight out onto the beach. It was a lovely place to stay and we would happily return.
