Wayside Cottages - Fossil And The Cross

Chesil Beach stretches for miles along this stretch of Dorset coast, a shingle bank that draws walkers, birdwatchers and anyone after bracing sea air. Fossil and The Cross sits just above it, a ground-floor cottage with uninterrupted views across the water and the sound of waves as a constant backdrop.

Inside, two bedrooms sleep four: one double and one twin. The main living space is open-plan, combining kitchen, dining and sitting areas with large windows framed on the seascape. A wood burner warms things on cooler evenings. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. Essentials like bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included, along with logs for the burner. You get a garden with seating and furniture; there's also a shared barbecue and firepit among the properties on-site. Two parking spaces sit on the grounds. One well-behaved pet stays free.

The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering. A short walk takes you down to the beach itself, or you can explore the wider Jurassic Coast and Dorset attractions inland. The cottage does not permit smoking.
