About The Ilchester Arms Hotel

An indoor swimming pool is not something you expect above a Weymouth pub, but The Ilchester Arms Hotel has one, along with a spa and sauna, tucked into a traditional coaching inn on Market Street. It pairs old-fashioned hospitality with a few unexpected extras, making it a practical base for exploring Dorset's coastline.

Rooms are comfortable rather than showy, with the pub atmosphere carrying through much of the building. Guests get breakfast, free WiFi, a bar and restaurant on site, and a garden to sit out in when the weather allows. The hotel also has meeting rooms and hosts weddings, and childcare can be arranged for those travelling with children. Pets are welcome, and there's free on-site parking, a genuine bonus in a town-centre location.

Its position on Market Street puts guests within easy reach of Weymouth's harbour and seafront, ideal for days spent along the Dorset coast. A lift serves the upper floors, useful for those who'd rather skip the stairs after a day out.

It was good. These businesses are struggling with taxes and high prices and I sympathise. It shows a bit in areas, but I value them. It's lovely to stay in a historic place in a beautiful village. It really is a great experience.

The hotel has a great location in this lovely village. Very convenient for the Swannery, gardens and St Catherine's chapel. It also has a car park! The room was comfortable and clean. The staff, particularly the chef, were all friendly and helpful. We had dinner on the two nights we stayed and the food was excellent - venison burger and steak were superb! Perhaps need to get the breakfasts organised by putting out the glasses and cutlery that you need and one of our dirty napkins managed to stay on a table for two days.

A most adequate pub (didn't stay so can't comment on yhe rooms). Very nice people but some beer unavailable and feels from a bygone age in terms of service. Excellent view of St Catherine's chapple from the car park!

Beautiful old building with loads of character, winding corridors and big unique rooms. Fantastic, welcoming staff. Delicious evening meals followed by good breakfast served with a smile and fresh coffee. Location is brilliant, loads to do within a walk in the beautiful village around an old abbey, and many coastal attractions a short drive. Highly recommended. Much better than over paying to stay in a tourist trap.
