About Wheelwrights

Wheelwrights offers en-suite rooms with garden views, a comfortable and quiet base for an adults-only stay in Abbotsbury. Guests arrive to a straightforward, well-kept room with the essentials taken care of, and free WiFi throughout for anyone who needs to stay connected.

Breakfast is included, and there's a kitchen and picnic area for guests who prefer to put together their own meals, along with outdoor seating and a garden to sit out in when the weather allows. A packed lunch can be arranged for days out, and reception is staffed around the clock. Free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward, which is useful given the property's location on Rodden Row.

Abbotsbury itself is on the doorstep, with the Swannery and Subtropical Gardens both within easy reach, and Chesil Beach not far beyond. Fishing, a pub and bar, and restaurants are all nearby, so there's plenty to fill the days without needing to travel far from the door.

Sue and Nigel were extremely welcoming, warm, and attentive from the moment we arrived! They listened to our needs and advised us on the region, fossil beaches, and even where to see the Northern Lights! The breakfasts and the room were as delightful as their hospitality - simply superb!

We were welcomed to Wheelwrights by hosts Nigel and Sue along with delightful slice of Sue's Victoria Sponge & Tea all in keeping with Wheelwright's former use as a tea room. The accomodation was at the rear of the property with own key for entry. Nigel is well informed about Abbotsbury and has penned one or two books of the town which are well worth a read.

Our room was in a converted outhouse with it's own heating system and access to the small car park at the back. The furniture was mostly modern and very comfortable. Our hosts were charming and generous and invited us into their parlour for tea and cake on our arrival. Breakfast was good. The village itself is interesting and close to Chesil Bank and the subtropical Gardens. The swannery and tithe barn have to be visited.

Small B&B (2 pretty rooms) with parking, well placed for beach and coast path. Friendly owner, good service. Lovely old thatched house and room overlooks pretty garden. Fantastic cooked breakfast! Bedroom (we stayed in room 1) quite small but warm and cosy, no road noise at all, as house is set back from road. Bathroom clean and spacious but shower poor.
