Allanhead
Dumfries and Galloway
Wigtown Bay stretches out westward from Allanhead, a three-bedroom cottage set among rolling Galloway countryside where the nearest pub is two miles away and neighbours are sparse. The setting suits anyone wanting genuine quiet rather than managed seclusion—this is working landscape, not manicured parkland. One dog travels free.
The layout spreads across two floors: downstairs holds a living room with an open fire (fuel provided), a kitchen/dining space with a range cooker and separate utility room, plus a double bedroom and a bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs, a second double and a twin room share access to an ensuite shower room. The cottage sleeps six, with bed linen, electricity and heating all covered. An enclosed garden with patio and lawn faces the views; there is parking for ten cars and a bike store.
The area rewards exploration on foot or by car—coastal walks, archaeology, and small villages connected to smuggling and Scottish history sit within reasonable reach. Sunset-watching from the garden is a concrete draw on clear evenings.
