Brighouse Bay Holiday Park

Honestly such a good location, feels like you are somewhere so much further away than you may be if you are a local. This place is brilliant, the facilities are great, the staff are friendly. The folk you meet during your stay are always lovely. I have been more than 10 times in my life and never ever have I had a bad experience. Great little shop there as well as the rest of the facilities, even the toilets are great. Really would recommend.

● Maps are inaccurate and unhelpful for finding your pitch ● The people pitched next to us watched us get our tent halfway up then made us move it despite it being on our pitch because they'd been parking their van there which we didnt know - there was plenty of other space and they left the next day ● Mens block has rainfall showers, womens has a spout in the wall - not exactly an equal experience ● Toilets aren't cleaned enough for the size of the site and arent cleaned at the times outlined on the doors ● All facilities cost extra and aren't cheap - not disclosed on the website before booking ● Managements responses to negative reviews are rude and apathetic - takes no accountability and pushes everything on to the customer

Great location, great pitch, facilities could do with an upgrade though. Reception very helpful. A bit mental at times as we were close to the play park which our daughter loved. Unfortunately you can't pick your neighbours but generally quiet. Leisure centre was good, the swimming pool was good bit the changing facilities could have been cleaner. But would defo go back. Beach just down from camp was rocky, so you got to walk a bit to get sand. Nice view though.

Where do I start 🤔 was hear from Friday to Monday Easter weekend start to finish was atrocious, went in to toilet on Friday when arrived and cubical was filthy. My son and his wee pal went up the mountain bike track .closed off. Went up to find out what entertainment was on and was told its a Friday Mercury tribute so asked the best time to come up to be told don't bother it's fully booked. Went to book pony rides for the girls to be told no pony's. Went in to the shop to get fishing bait and ask what pond was the best to fish to be told their isn't any fish as the swans and herons have ate all the fish but swans don't eat fish . Our kids went swimming and when I went up and paid for it I was overcharged by a you girl that it turned out doesn't even work there she was only in helping her gran because it was busy.the lager and beer in the bar was warm instead of cold. The touring pitch we were on was like a swamp as there was no drainage on the grass so it was water logged so after paying an extra £7.50 for our awning we couldn't put it up. Had to pay extra for every each and individual person above two people and pay £6.50 for our small dog although it was in our van with the extra kids. Never saw any security on the site at any time. The shop had no bread or rolls but had packs of frozen rolls, staff were rather abrupt when I said about awning pitch water logged. Other people's children were playing on a small rope swing and a member of staff came up and cut it down. No signal all weekend and even the shop couldn't take card because their WiFi was constantly crashing. Toilet blocks two of in the same building both were male and female mixed to men could be in the same toilet as your young daughter not a good idea. And easy to resolve .put a male sign on one door and female on the other door. Our young son walked around the rear of our van and tripped over one of two large pieces of thick cable sticking out of the ground that had been cut and left sticking upwards. No lighting on the park. No cctv on the park apart from around the shop and what they call the entertainment building. A huge bundle of cut down branches behind our pitch ready for someone to walk by and set alight. Honestly I could go on and on with photos to prove all I have put down. Oh before I forget once the water settled in the jacuzzi in beside the pool the jacuzzi water was filthy. If you are looking for a good campsite to go to then avoid brighouse Bay holiday park. Everyone we spoke to had complaints of some sort and said they wouldn't return to it. So in my opinion any good reviews are from either the site owners or site staff. Wish we had stayed at home.
