Bonshawside Farmhouse

A converted wing of the owners' home on an active cattle and sheep farm, Bonshawside Farmhouse sits in open countryside between Kirtlebridge and Dumfries. The building commands views across rural surroundings; from the main rooms, windows frame the farmland and adjoining fields. An enclosed garden with seating areas opens onto these same vistas, making it a peaceful base for exploring the region without feeling remote—the shop is under two miles away, with a pub and restaurant at two miles.

The three bedrooms sleep five: a double and two singles upstairs, plus a single on the ground floor. Downstairs also holds a living room with a 55-inch smart television, and a kitchen/dining room fitted with electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are included; heating comes via biomass. You have private parking for three cars and the whole place to yourself.

The Solway Coast is four miles off; beyond that lies Dumfries and Galloway proper—castles at Caerlaverock and Sweetheart Abbey, the Robert Burns connection at Ellisland Farm, Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve, mountain bike trails at Mabie, and Annandale Distillery. The farmhouse does not allow smoking.
