Woodpecker Lodge is a detached bungalow set on one level throughout, built to accommodate families seeking space and flexibility. Three bedrooms hold a king bed, a single, and bunks suitable for children, while a walk-in shower room and separate toilet serve the household. The open-plan living area combines a sitting space with woodburner, dining zone and kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and full-size fridge mean you can prepare what you want when you want. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included; a cot and highchair are available if needed.
Outside, the property opens onto a garden with seating areas, an outdoor wood burner, and an enclosed orchard. An indoor heated swimming pool (6m by 4m, 1.2m deep) is shared with one other property on site, with one two-hour slot per guest per day available from Easter through October, weather permitting. Bike storage is provided. The location suits families and groups wanting a countryside base for walking and cycling; Dumfries and Galloway offers coastal paths along the Solway, forest trails and mountain biking routes. Caerlaverock Wetland Centre lies a few miles away. No smoking indoors; the garden has two steps with ramp access.

A lovely few nights at The Tranquil Orchard. Easy to find and spotlessly clean accommodation. The children loved the pool and didn’t want to leave. It’s also a great place to use as a base to explore the area. Lots to see and do.

We stayed here for our first anniversary and we cannot rate it highly enough. Wendy and Joe put so much effort in to making your stay relaxing an extra special. Joe had even cleaned and filled the hot tub for us to save us time. He gave us a wee tour and explained how everything worked. Wendy was super responsive to any queries and just very nice. The Nuthatch was stunning, comfortable and so quiet. The hot tub was fab and it being wood fired added a bit of character. The heated pool was also lovely and would be great for kids especially We will definitely be back❤️

This was our second visit and again we really enjoyed our stay. Wendy and Joe are very friendly hosts and the grounds are just beautiful. The Lodge we were in was lovely and well equipped. The grandkids loved the pool. Denise, David, Cole and Aimee
