About Park of Brandedleys
Park of Brandedleys spreads across twenty-four acres of elevated ground above Crocketford, around ten miles west of Dumfries, with views stretching over Auchenreoch Loch and the surrounding farmland. The standout facility here is the on-site swimming pool—unusual for a touring park of this size and a genuine draw for families, particularly on a wet Galloway afternoon. Pitches are a mix of grass and hardstanding, with electric hook-ups available, and most benefit from the elevated terrain, giving caravans and motorhomes a decent outlook rather than staring straight into a neighbour's awning. There are also self-catering lodges for anyone wanting a fixed base.
The site has built a strong local reputation over many years, though facilities can feel a touch tired in places. Crocketford itself is small and light on services, so a supermarket stop in Dumfries beforehand is sensible. The location works well for exploring both Dumfries to the east and Castle Douglas and the Galloway coast to the west, with castles, gardens and forest trails all within a thirty-minute drive.

What visitors say
Good camping. Unfortunately no heated toilet building. Also a lot of rabbits (which are cute with their babies), but hence a lot of rabbit shit.

We stayed here for one night only in early July. We are a couple in our 50s and we stopped here whilst on a mini bike tour of south Dumfriesshire (with our tent). We have never stayed at a campsite quite like it before. And I mean that in a good way! The day we arrived the weather had been atrocious and we were pretty drookit. The BYO bar is a brilliant thing, especially for folk with tents as it gives you a space to chill out and relax. The warden was so friendly and welcoming and just told us to make ourselves at home, which we did! Behind the bar is a kettle, tea bags and coffee, which you can just help yourself to. One of our fellow campers mentioned an honesty box, but she didn’t know where it was and we couldn’t see it. There is also a fridge, where you can stash some beer and wine. There are tons of various shaped glasses for any type of drink you may have. They obviously don’t sell booze here, but the bar looks like it does - the vibe is very much 70s/80s, but it doesn’t matter as it’s just such a great place to hang out. I’d highly recommend this campsite to anyone, but I do think bike tourers, like us, would particularly love it because you can just let it all hang out and relax. The pub down the road was also great as was the wee local shop. We will definitely be back with our camper van at some point, hopefully in the not too distant future. Oh, one more thing. It is CASH ONLY, so bear that in mind when you arrive. Truly unique!!
