About Craigadam

Golf courses, fishing spots and cycling routes are all close to Craigadam, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, making this a handy base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway around Castle Douglas. The surrounding countryside itself is part of the draw, with the hotel occupying a rural estate that gives guests plenty of scope to get outdoors between meals.

Rooms are individually themed and comfortably furnished, each with an en-suite bathroom, and a bridal suite is available for those marking a special occasion. Accessible rooms are also on offer, and every room comes with drinks provided. Breakfast is included, and the estate runs its own game butcher's, which feeds into meals served in the restaurant and bar. Packed lunches can be arranged for days spent out on the grounds or further afield.

Elsewhere on site there's a garden, a picnic area and outdoor seating, along with meeting rooms and wedding facilities for those planning events. Free WiFi, 24 hour reception, luggage storage and free on-site parking cover the practical side, and pets are welcome. It's a country hotel built around its estate setting as much as its rooms.

I genuinely don’t know where to start... This place was an absolute gem!! The host, Celia, was incredible and went above and beyond to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. She works unbelievably hard preparing breakfasts and dinners, welcoming guests, chatting with everyone, and somehow keeping such a warm, positive energy throughout it all. You can tell she truly cares about giving people a memorable experience. The house itself is stunning, it's a beautiful old Scottish family home full of character, period furniture, and very very cosy atmosphere. My room was spotless, beautifully decorated with tartan curtains and a chapel bed. The food... omg the food was another highlight. Absolutely delicious from start to finish and I highly recommend booking dinners as well - it’s an experience in its own!! And finally, this part of Scotland is just breathtaking. Perfect for hiking, cycling, exploring, and really immersing yourself in nature and local culture. Bottom line: 11/10. I would return in a heartbeat!

We loved our stay at Craigadam. We wanted a relaxing stop as we meandered our way North and Craigadam is a bit of a gem. Celia was great, dinner and breakfast were lovely, room was spacious and clean, bed was really comfy and the bath/shower was very good.
