Gardener’s Cottage
Dumfries and Galloway
Rolling countryside and the Galloway Hills frame this part of southwest Scotland, where a 3000-acre private estate provides the setting for Gardener's Cottage. The detached Victorian building sits on grounds with woodland walks and hillside trails accessible from the door, while the wider landscape opens toward the Solway Firth. Dumfries, 12 miles away, has shops and restaurants; Castle Douglas, 8 miles off, is a traditional market town. The National Trust Threave Gardens and various forest parks lie within a short drive.
The cottage accommodates four guests across two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles—and a bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs, a living room with woodburner and dining room with open fire provide focal points, while the kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking. There is a utility room with washer and dryer, and a separate toilet. Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. An enclosed garden with a small bridge over the stream gives direct access to the grounds and is a particular feature of the property.
This is a whole cottage to yourself, with parking on site. One well-behaved pet is welcome. Smoking is not permitted inside. The property suits families or small groups seeking quiet countryside, with enough nearby attractions to venture out if desired.
