East Devon

Higher Checkridge Farm's Cider House is a Grade II listed stone building dating from the 15th century, built with the kind of permanence you feel the moment you step inside. Flagstone floors, exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace give the interior real character. The cottage sits at the head of a valley in East Devon, less than five miles from Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast, surrounded by 27 acres of working farmland where you might spot deer, badgers, foxes and birds of prey among the grazing sheep.
The layout suits a mix of ages and needs. Downstairs has a living room, a kitchen with a full range of equipment for proper cooking, and a double bedroom with shower room—handy if grandparents or less mobile guests are staying. Upstairs, two more bedrooms with single beds provide the remaining space. A second bathroom with a bath serves the upper floor. All essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen and wifi are included. The property is entirely yours for the duration of your stay. Outside, there's private parking for three cars, a bike store, an enclosed patio with furniture, and a barbecue. An adventure playground sits within the 27-acre grounds (open March to late October, shared access), giving children somewhere to burn energy. The village shop and pub are a mile away, and the coastal attractions of East Devon and Dorset are easily reached by car.
