I had seen a little about this online when I was planning our trip to Edinburgh (we are from the USA), but I really wasn’t sure what to expect. It was extremely interesting and gave a new perspective of the city’s history. Our tour guide, Mickey, was full of energy and her delivery of the information added to the tour. Great experience for sure and would highly recommend!

I went for this tour on 8 June and had such a wonderful time with our guide, Jade. She was a wonderful storyteller and so engaging and lovely. Her stories were so well-told that we were inspired to find out more about them - eventually purchase two books to learn more about the stories in Mary King’s close. While we were not allowed to take pictures or videos, I think that there is no loss there. It makes for a more immersive experience as we travel down several levels and into rooms of people who actually lived there. It was quite surreal to listen to their stories and reimagine what they experienced back then. I learnt so much and wished it was longer. Definitely worth a visit ! And highly highly recommend our guide. Tho I doubt you can ever choose them.

Our tour guide was Paul, and he was absolutely hilarious and informative. Truly felt like we got such a stellar experience of the Closes. This tour is excellent and everyone visiting Edinburgh should book it— it feels crucial to understanding the city!

we had a fantastic time on our visit! our tour guide was absolutely great and it was fun hearing about the histories from him whilst touring the underground passageways. you can get fun pictures taking in the close and purchase them in the gift shop afterwards. you learn all about the history of the close, who it was named after, what events were going on during different time periods etc!
