About Castle Park Guest House

Step into a room at Castle Park Guest House and you'll find things well looked after: en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds and a general polish that guests consistently pick up on, along with drinks in the room and free WiFi for anyone working or streaming in the evening. It's a straightforward B&B setup, but one where the details have clearly been thought through rather than left to chance.

Breakfast is cooked to order and includes homemade bread and tattie scones alongside the usual Scottish spread, making it a proper start to the day rather than an afterthought. There's also a games room for downtime, luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures, and 24 hour reception so guests aren't tied to a check-in window.

The Gilmore Place address puts guests within walking distance of Edinburgh's main attractions, with pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment nearby, plus a golf course for those wanting to venture slightly further. Public transport links are close at hand too, making it an easy base whether the day's plans involve the city centre or somewhere further afield.

We had a wonderful four-night stay at this lovely boutique hotel. We stayed in the Mackenzie Room, the largest room in the hotel, and it was incredibly spacious, bright, comfortable, and impeccably clean. Breakfast was freshly prepared every morning and was very enjoyable. The only small suggestion would be to offer a little more variety, especially for guests staying several nights. What really made our stay special was the warm and genuine hospitality. The two members of staff who run the hotel were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They were always happy to have a chat and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The location is excellent as well. There are bus stops conveniently located on both sides of the hotel, making it very easy to get around Edinburgh. Although it is slightly outside the city centre, we actually found this to be a real advantage — it was peaceful and relaxing, while still being close to some lovely restaurants and cafés. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a charming and authentic boutique hotel experience in Edinburgh. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!

We had a wonderful stay at Castle Park Guest House for our first trip to Edinburgh. I can’t say enough about how much thought and detail Ian and David have put into making their guests feel welcomed, comfortable and catered to. Not only was the breakfast absolutely delicious, the room was spotless, bright and beautifully decorated and situated. We enjoyed sitting by the big window, sipping tea and reading. The location was also perfect as we were able to walk to old town and the castle, and it’s right near a bus stop that takes you into new town or to the port. We would highly recommend staying at Castle Park and would love to stay again if we get the opportunity to return to Edinburgh.

Ian and David were wonderful hosts during my 6 day stay in Edinburgh! They provided really great breakfasts, a clean and comfortable room, and useful suggestions for what to do around the city. It was a peaceful and pretty walk to all of the attractions, both in Old Edinburgh and in the direction of Blackford Hill. I appreciated that the breakfasts were made to order and that I was able to take my time in the mornings with a cup of tea and a book. (They had quite the selection of hot drinks in the rooms as well!) The disconnected bathroom wasn't a problem at all, as it was private to me and right across the hall. Thanks for the great stay!

We spent three nights at Castle Park Guest House. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bathroom is modern. The guest house is situated in a quiet, lovely area, yet it’s very central and you can walk to Edinburgh city centre in 15 minutes. The hosts (Ian and David) are incredibly friendly and helpful. You really feel welcome here. The breakfast is fantastic (including homemade bread) and Ian explains everything to you in detail (a real highlight!). Thank you Ian & thank you David, if we ever visit Edinburgh again, we’ll be staying with you. We’ll recommend you to our friends. GREAT! Frank & Christiane
