About Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre Princes Street
Walk into a room at Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre Princes Street and, in many cases, the castle is right there in the window, sitting above the skyline just across the gardens. Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and drinks on hand, along with accessible options for those who need them. Beds are comfortable and the overall feel is one of reliable, no-fuss comfort rather than boutique styling - though a few rooms show their wear, so it's worth not expecting everything to be pristine.
The hotel itself spans five floors and 97 rooms on Princes Street, with a lift, 24-hour reception and a restaurant serving breakfast that guests consistently rate as generous and varied. Staff are friendly and helpful, and prices remain reasonable for such a central spot. Parking isn't on site, but chargeable parking can be found nearby.
Location is the standout: Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and Waverley Station are all within easy reach, and there's no shortage of pubs and entertainment close by for evenings out. It's a straightforward, well-placed base for exploring the city centre on foot.
What guests say
Stayed here for 4 nights in a premier plus room with a castle view. I paid extra for early check in and my room was ready when I got there at 11 am. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the view was incredible! The location is also great. There's lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance and it's easy to catch a bus or tram right on Princes Street to get wherever you need to go. I also got the daily breakfast. It was really convenient to just stop by the restaurant connected to the hotel every morning before heading out for the day. The price wasn't bad for an unlimited breakfast buffet, and they had a nice selection of food.

We booked a five-night stay at the Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre (Princes Street) hotel from Toronto, Canada, and it proved to be an excellent choice. From the comfortable accommodation to the great service, the hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel's location is exceptional, with easy walking access to many of Edinburgh’s most iconic attractions, including the Royal Mile, Grassmarket, Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill, and a wide variety of restaurants and shops. The hotel’s breakfast lounge offers a buffet with a wide variety of options. We opted for the Full English Breakfast each morning, which was excellent. Our room overlooked the main street and provided a stunning view of Edinburgh Castle. It was clean, spacious, quiet, and well maintained. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring the city. My wife and I are delighted that we chose this hotel for our visit to Edinburgh. The combination of comfortable accommodation, outstanding service, and an unbeatable location made our stay truly memorable. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable stay in Edinburgh.

The hotel is in an excellent location, with most attractions around a 15–20 minute walk away. There are plenty of restaurants and shops surrounding the hotel, which is very convenient. I booked a Premier Plus room and was allocated room 325, but unfortunately the view was directly onto a concrete building, which looked quite unpleasant. I had read previous reviews mentioning rooms without windows, so I called the hotel beforehand and was advised to book a Premier Plus room which is more expensive to avoid this issue. The staff were polite and attentive, and the room itself was clean. I had booked the full breakfast, but found it disappointing. The tea mugs were particularly off‑putting; although they had supposedly been washed, many still had stains inside, so you had to search through them to find a clean one. There was also no cheese available. Overall, we enjoyed our stay mainly because of the hotel’s excellent location.

I love premier inns but on recent trips around the country I've seen a drop in standards. The staff are always absolutely brilliant and so helpful and really are your best asset. It was an extremely busy weekend for Premier Inn, Princes St, Edinburgh because of events happening throughout the city and although the general room clean was ok, the room needed a deeper clean which would not be possible for daily housekeeping. There was brown scum on the shower head where the spray comes out and on the plastic door seals. The grout between the tiles also had brown dirt that would have come off with a good scrub. My son's room had a child's cot containing a shocking mattress with a 1 to 2 inch gap around the edge, luckily they brought their own travel cot. I only book Premier Inns because of the comfy beds and fantastic helpful staff but I will be looking at other options unless cleanliness improves. I'm really sad that I'm loosing a gem of a play to stay.
