About Hampton By Hilton Edinburgh West End
Walk into a room at Hampton By Hilton Edinburgh West End and you get a clean, contemporary space with an en-suite bathroom, a reliably good shower, air conditioning and in-room drinks, with family and accessible rooms also available across the hotel's 228 rooms. It's the kind of straightforward comfort that makes settling in easy after a day of sightseeing or meetings.
The hotel sits on Fountainbridge, with bus links into central Edinburgh and a walk of around 20 minutes to Edinburgh Castle, or 25 minutes to Princes Street. Downstairs there's a restaurant, a bar and a snack bar, along with breakfast each morning that includes a popular waffle station, though some find the spread on the limited side. A gym, lift access, laundry service, luggage storage and meeting rooms cover the practical bases, with chargeable on-site parking for those driving in.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, which smooths over the basics of a stay. Beyond the hotel, the surrounding area offers pubs, restaurants, entertainment and nearby golf, fishing and watersports for those wanting to venture further afield.
What guests say
The Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh exemplifies Hilton's standard of room cleanliness. I was impressed by the spotless toilet, duvet, and towels. Another aspect that amazed me was the hotel’s prime location, close to Princess Street, Waverley train station, Edinburgh Castle, and the National Museum of Scotland. While all these attractions help foster guests' loyalty to the Hilton brand, I believe more is needed to elevate it to a world-class level. I understand Hilton maintains a unified service standard, meaning all brands, such as Legend by Curtio, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Hilton Garden Inn, must adhere to its SOPs to ensure consistent guest expectations. Although it offers free tea, it is limited to just two small packs of milk. The hotel could benefit from adding a mini fridge (via room service), a complimentary bottle of water, and pay-per-view TV. I observed the front office staff; there are inconsistencies in uniforms, which undermines the very differentiation Hilton is known for. Additionally, a menu of hotel services is missing from the rooms. This is a missed opportunity, as guests who eat out or visit other restaurants are only using the hotel for sleeping. While I commend the housekeeping team for their excellent work, they should avoid blocking the corridor with dirty duvets and towels. Nevertheless, I would recommend this brand to all, given its central location, clean rooms, and a satisfying breakfast with a good variety of options. I really enjoyed myself.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Eren for her outstanding service. She was extremely polite, welcoming, and professional. She resolved my issue very easily and made the whole process smooth and comfortable. I was not satisfied with my original room, and she kindly arranged a room change without hesitation and with a warm attitude. It was clear that guest satisfaction was very important to her. Thank you, Eren, for your excellent hospitality and for making my stay much more enjoyable. 🌷

Basic hotel, great staff, great connectivity to the tourist attractions via local buses. Great luggage service after checking out. Non-openable windows in the room. The breakfast buffet area could be larger to avoid congestion. Varied quality of bread made availible for breakfast. The quality of the breakfast coffee could be better. The doors of the rooms could have better sound-proofing.

My husband and I stayed here one night. A male housekeeping staff member entered our room without permission, swiping his card without knocking or checking if anyone was in the room. This greatly frightened my husband(I was not in the room at that time, otherwise I would have called the police immediately). The staff member left without any apology afterward. I intended to provide feedback through the Hilton, but I haven't received any customer experience survey emails yet.
