About Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge
Freer Gait sits in Edinburgh's Fountainbridge district, a part of the city that has grown into a busy hub of offices, flats and new hotels within easy reach of Haymarket, the EICC and the wider centre. Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge occupies a seven-floor building here, with 262 rooms and a design that leans towards a modern, sociable feel rather than a quiet retreat.
Rooms are clean and contemporary, with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi as standard, plus family and accessible options and in-room drinks. Downstairs there's a restaurant, bar, snack bar and rooftop dining space, along with a games room, gym, meeting rooms and business facilities. A breakfast buffet with a good range of choices is served each morning, and staff are generally friendly and helpful, though service can occasionally feel a little inconsistent.
The location works well for exploring on foot, with tram stops, pubs, restaurants and entertainment all within walking distance, and golf and watersports available nearby for those wanting to venture further. There's no on-site parking, so this suits guests arriving by public transport or on foot. Pets are welcome, and luggage storage and laundry service are on hand for those breaking up longer trips.
What guests say
The hotel is well situated, 1/4 hours walking distance from the turistic sites. The rooms are not very large, the bathrooms either, but, all in all, the conditions are good. Wi-fi works properly, every floor has an ironing room, well equipped. The breakfast (included) is fair, diverse and served in good conditions, with local and international cuisine. There are no mini-bars, or refrigerators in rooms, but in the lobby there are water dispensers free of charge. The staff is very kind.

My family and I recently stayed at the Moxy, and I have to say the team there are absolutely brilliant! The hotel itself is exactly what you'd expect from a 3-star hotel: clean, comfortable and great value. We love Moxy hotels because they're fun, relaxed, and always make our child feel welcome. During our stay, we did a bit of shopping and, unfortunately, she accidentally left one of our bags at reception. We only realised once we were already on the train back to London. Thankfully, the team couldn't have been more helpful. As soon as I called, they were kind, understanding, and quick to help us find a solution. We arranged for a courier to collect the bag, and it arrived back with us today. They had even taken the time to pack everything securely into a box. It's small acts of kindness like this that make such a difference. The staff went above and beyond, and I'm so grateful for their help. Thank you to everyone at the Moxy for turning what could have been a stressful situation into such a positive experience. We'll definitely be back!

Rooms were clean but are very cramped. Aircon was not very effective so the room was too warm and not manageable in terms of temperature to suit one's personal preference. Most of the TV channels didn't work. Breakfast buffet was adequate but not great and not maintained so after the first wave of customers, it looked like a mess. Staff barely looked at you nevermind gave service. The hotel has some kind of trendy vibe which wasn't to my taste. The location is ok. You can easily walk to the main areas of the city. The reception is located in the bar/restaurant and the staff had their jerseys lying on the counter and all sorts of paperwork. Very scruffy and unappealing, potentially even unhygienic. Wasn't a good view sitting at the bar counter for breakfast

Unfortunately we've had mixed experiences. We visited the hotel twice and both times the first room they gave us smelled really badly. We asked for a change and they gave us a new room, and the second room both times was fine and clean, but the feeling that the place has some sewage problems stayed with us. Personnel is nice and available. Breakfasts not so good. Position is very good.

Some reviews mention the service can be unprofessional.
