About Hanover House Hotel

Edinburgh Zoo is a short trip away, and Edinburgh Waverley station is around half a mile from the door, making Hanover House Hotel a handy base for exploring the city by rail or on foot. Pubs, bars and restaurants sit nearby too, so evenings out don't require much planning.

The hotel itself occupies a Georgian townhouse on Windsor Street, with just five rooms kept cosy and each offering free Wi-Fi. A full Scottish breakfast is included each morning, and reception is staffed around the clock for guests arriving at odd hours. Free on-site parking is a useful bonus for anyone driving up.

It's a small, straightforward set-up rather than a large hotel with extensive facilities, but the location and the personal scale of the place suit those who want an easy base close to the city centre and its main sights.

Great location. High ceiling with nice light. Beyond that, it feels like camping. Tiny room, tiny bathroom, tiny sink and shower. Toilet takes many flushes. Hear conversations and coughs from the next room. So many set of stairs with turns to get up stairs. Not worth what we paid for comparing to other places we are staying during this trip.

All fine if you just need a bed for a night or two, and fine if you get people that are polite with the shared toilet downstairs. We've heard lots of creaking floorboards from upstairs, and had a lot of smoke smells around the bottom floor and especially in the shared bathroom, other room we're sharing the bathroom with keeps leaving the loo unflushed and such. Have not been able to find someone that works here to make w face to face comment about it unfortunately.

Had a good stay here. It is a short walk to the tram stop, so it is easy to get to from the airport, and it really isn't out of the way from anything else either. Room was nice. Couldn't hear anything from any of the other rooms upstairs, but the water pump in the bathroom was really loud, and the TV downstairs was often blaring and seemingly not even being watched a lot of the times I walked by, but it got turned off at night. Breakfast was good.

We had a lovely stay at this quaint hotel that felt more like a bed and breakfast since the hospitality was so personal and gracious. Our hostess, Jasmin, was delightful and took good care of us the entire time. Breakfasts are full Scottish among other dishes and are made to order by Jasmin herself. Highly recommend this quiet hotel which is in a good location.
