About Minto House

Minto House occupies a traditional Edinburgh townhouse on Minto Street, offering a straightforward base for visitors who want comfort without frills. Rooms are simply furnished with televisions and en-suite bathrooms, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Free WiFi runs throughout, and staff are on hand at all hours via the 24 hour reception.

Facilities include drinks in the room, room service, luggage storage and a garden, giving guests a bit of outdoor space to sit in. A notable practical bonus is free on-site parking, which makes this a sensible choice for anyone arriving by car in a city where parking is otherwise a headache.

Edinburgh Zoo is within reach, and the surrounding area offers walking and cycling routes, golf and fishing nearby, plus a handful of pubs, bars and restaurants for evenings out. Edinburgh Waverley station is 1.90 miles away, keeping the wider city and its rail links within easy striking distance.

Minto House was perfect for our 6 night stay. The host was very kind and accomodating. The room was always kept warm and comfy. The bathroom was nice and modern with an easy to use shower and a lovely large mirror. We always came back to a tidy room with the coffee and loo roll restocked. It was absolutely perfect for us as we like to take our time getting ready and walking into town. There are plenty of nice places to grab food or drink along the way too, and the walk to the Royal Mile only took 20 minutes, which I wouldn't say is long at all. I don't think the room was as dated as people say, I think it had a cosy historic charm and I loved how it felt like a home rather than a hotel. Will definitely be staying here again next time we visit Edinburgh.

With no exaggeration, I had a tremendous stay. Rooms were like home, owners were so accommodating. Everything I asked for , they gave it! The area is nice and quiet despite being walking distance from both university campuses and main roads. Lots of food places nearby and a bus stop right outside that goes to all the major spots in Edinburgh. Great value for money and reasonably priced, recommend it to all!

A very much belated review; I stayed in this lovely B&B in the autumn of 2012 (I think before Google Reviews existed!) for a whole month as an international student on exchange with Edinburgh University. Spacious, clean & simple room with a pretty view overlooking the front garden & street. All amenities are there, including radiator heaters (great for warming up clothes in the morning or drying off socks!), & owner Nadia was absolutely wonderful & helpful. Free wifi (although a bit patchy in my room, I sat on the staircase for better reception), 15 minutes walking distance to South Bridge, Waverley Station & the city centre, & there are bus stops right outside going both directions. Will be my first accommodation choice for future trips to Edinburgh.

We stayed at one of the properties owned by Minto, but marketed under the name of Bala House. Our suite was excellent. Newly refurbished, clean and comfortable. The location is convenient to central Edinburgh, and the area has a number of good places to eat. (Try the Olde Bell - best pub food I have had in a long time) No breakfast, but that isn't a great problem because there are a number of coffee bars in the vicinity
