What guests say
I had a wonderful stay at Mount Royal Edinburgh by The Unlimited Collection. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of Edinburgh and within walking distance of many major attractions, restaurants, shops, and transport links. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout my stay. I especially appreciated that they arranged a twin-bed room for me instead of a queen bed upon request, which made my stay much more comfortable. The room was well equipped with all the essential amenities, including fresh towels and everything needed for a pleasant stay. The air conditioning worked very well, which was a great bonus. The housekeeping team also deserves special recognition—they were always smiling, professional, and kept the room clean and tidy. There can be a little noise from outside due to the central location, but the windows provide good soundproofing. If possible, I highly recommend booking a castle-view room, as the view is absolutely worth it. Overall, it exceeded my expectations and I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Edinburgh.

One of Best Hotels We've Stayed!! Our stay at the Mount Royal Hotel was absolutely flawless, and I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone visiting Edinburgh! Location: This was a perfect base for exploring amazing Edinburgh. Away from the overcrowded, highly touristy Royal Mile area. Minutes away from the main train station and right next to fantastic local restaurants, pubs, and great shops. Room: excellent views that offered a breathtaking, beautiful view of the iconic Edinburgh Castle. Room were equipped with cozy robes and plush slippers for maximum comfort. A wonderful surprise was an espresso machine for fresh morning coffee and a fan to keep the room perfectly cool. Service: the team was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our entire stay. Room cleaning service was prompt, thorough, and kept everything spotless daily. Atmosphere: the hotel blends a prime city feel with a peaceful, comfortable retreat. Standard room amenities like the espresso setup and castle views elevated the entire experience. Smell throughout hotel was amazing and had a restaurant an bar in-house as well. Small touches like fresh orange-lemon water in the waiting area left nothing to chance. Summary: if you're visiting Edinburgh for a few days this is the perfect place to stay!!!

We stayed for a total of 6D5N. Arriving by train at Waverley, the hotel is just a few minutes away on foot, which is really convenient, especially if you are carrying large pieces of luggage. We stayed for the first few nights in a classic room with a castle view, then the last few nights in a deluxe room with a castle view. Both rooms are clean and spacious, and the balcony in the deluxe room is really worth it if you want an overlooking view of Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle. It's a good starting point for walking, and the location was really perfect for discovering the city. If you get tired from walking, you can take a short rest back at the hotel and regain your energy to explore again afterward, as most attractions are nearby. It was a very pleasant stay overall. Below are some points I think the hotel could further improve on: - In the entrance hall, instead of an elevator for heavy luggage, it might be easier to have a sloped ramp. This would also be better for PWDs. I saw a lot of people struggle to use that elevator and just opt to drag their heavy luggage up the steps. - If staying in a room with a balcony, I hope there were more preventive measures in place against mosquitoes and other flies, as this was the reason we couldn't enjoy the balcony as much and had to keep it closed unless we wanted to enjoy the view. - Some rooms have coat hooks in the entrance, while some don't (the classic room had one, but the deluxe room surprisingly didn't). It's a minor thing but noticeable during a chilly summer season.

The first time I have stayed at the Mount Royal, Edinburgh since its refurbishment. What a stunning improvement on the old hotel! The bedrooms are superbly decorated, with really comfortable beds, state of the art interactive TVs and super fast Wi-Fi. The new Rain Showers are a great addition to the bathroom refit. The revamped restaurant and bar have made this a real destination in the city, the food and service were exceptional. I am already looking forward to my next visit.
