About Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket
Gardners Crescent sits just off Haymarket, one of Edinburgh's busiest transport hubs, putting the Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket within easy walking reach of Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street and the West End. The station itself is close by, making this a practical base for exploring the city on foot or hopping onto onward trains and trams.
The hotel has 110 rooms across eight floors, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and a mini bar, with family and accessible rooms also available. Coffee machines and a small chocolate touch feature in the rooms, and a lift serves all floors. Breakfast is served each morning with a good range of options, and the on-site restaurant and bar cover other meals and drinks. A gym, concierge services, business facilities, luggage storage and laundry service round out the practical side of a stay.
Beyond the hotel, the surrounding streets offer plenty of pubs, restaurants and eateries within easy reach, along with entertainment options and fishing nearby for those wanting to venture further. Staff are generally noted as friendly and helpful, though service can be inconsistent at busier times. There's no parking available on site, so this suits guests arriving by train or without a car.

Stayed for a night at Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket on the hottest day of June 2026! It’s a very nice, welcoming hotel situated around 10 mins walk away from Haymarket train station. The entrance was very nice, air conditioning was on which gave a very nice feeling on such a hot day. But the most amazing thing was how I was welcomed by Sonia at the reception. Lovely lady with a warm welcome and smile on her face. She checked me in very quickly and gave me the room key. Also informed me about the breakfast timing and option and that someone will be available at the reception 24 hours if I needed anything. I had booked a privilege room on 4th floor. The lobby and so nice and clean with beautiful carpet. There are two lifts and came very quickly. The room was very nice. The air conditioner was on which again gave a great feeling. Room had the coffee machine and kettle. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Iron with ironing board was also in the room along with hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers. There were juices and fizzy drinks in the fridge in the room also free to use. I believe these things are only provided in the privilege room. Toilet was exceptionally clean. The shower was amazing. It had such a good pressure and hot water came very quickly also. Used the gym in the hotel also. It was small but sufficient. Had a good amount of dumbbells. The AC wasn’t working as it had some kind of an error. Water dispenser and there were towels available as well to use. Overall, it’s a great hotel if you want to be near main attractions in Edinburgh and I would highly recommend it.

Staff was courteous. The room was nice but the shower is poorly designed. The floor gets soaked every shower. The refrigerator in the room didn't keep things cold. I asked multiple times for it to be repaired but it never was. Breakfast was good each day. Located nearby Lothian bus stop for transportation. Overall a good stay.

We stayed at this hotel for our two-day trip to Edinburgh, and we had a wonderful experience. The room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and we were welcomed with lovely complimentary chocolates, which was a thoughtful touch. The location was also excellent. Most of the city’s main attractions were within walking distance, and the train station was only about a 10-minute taxi ride away. We were extremely satisfied with our stay and with the service provided by the hotel staff. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh, especially first-time visitors who are looking for a comfortable and reliable place to stay.

Very disappointing stay. The room was far too small for three people with the pull-out armchair bed. With luggage, there was barely any space to walk, making it feel like a safety hazard. The overall quality was below average. The mattress wasn’t comfortable, and the pull-out armchair literally felt like sleeping on metal. The Wi-Fi constantly disconnected (had better internet connection in a cruise in the middle of the sea), the bathroom sink had very weak water pressure, and the overall stay fell well below expectations. I chose this hotel for my last two nights in Scotland because I wanted the comfort of a proper hotel rather than an apartment. Ironically, it ended up being the least comfortable stay of my entire trip.
