About Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre Royal Mile

A generous breakfast selection and an on-site restaurant and bar set the tone at Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre Royal Mile, on East Market Street in the heart of the Scottish capital. The morning spread is varied enough to please most tastes, and the bar offers a straightforward spot for an evening drink without needing to venture out.

The hotel has 127 rooms across five floors, all en-suite with air conditioning and the option of family or accessible rooms, plus drinks available in room. A lift serves all floors and reception is staffed around the clock. Beds have been noted as comfortable, and while staff are generally described as friendly and helpful, service can be a little inconsistent at busy times.

The location is hard to beat, with Waverley station and the Royal Mile both close by, putting the city's main sights within easy walking distance. Nearby pubs, restaurants and entertainment options add to the appeal, and there's chargeable parking available nearby for those arriving by car.

When we arrived. The male receptionist didn't even look us in the eye, was extremely unfriendly. I had a parcel sent to the hotel and when I asked for it , he said come back later. I don't think he even looked at us at all. The room wasn't the cleanest and had stains on the floor. Mold in the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and there were lots of it. The location was superb. Early check in was why we booked it as we needed in before 3pm. Will definitely stay again. The male receptionist spoilt our initial experience with her poor skills.

We were quite disappointed at this Premier Inn. The service was really slow. The flush on the toilet in our room broke, I told them about it in the morning before we went out for the day, and when we got back, later in the evening, it still wasn't repaired and I had to remind them the next day. A couple of friends, who were travelling with us, also asked to have fresh towels in the room, they never got them and had to ask the next day. We were a group of 8 people in total, and we were all disappointed in this hotel. The service at dinnertime was slow, although the food was good. And you had to search for the bar staff in the evening when you were in the bar. No toilet paper in the toilets. Normally we enjoy staying at Premier Inn as the beds are comfortable and the rooms good value. Unfortunately this one let us down.

Location is good. When I arrived in the room, I was unsure if it had been cleaned or not. Bathroom had a lot of mold across the tiles, silicone and the ceiling and a dirty towel hanging on the back of the door. Service - didn't see any staff members in the property at all. Self service check in. We buzzed at reception one morning and subsequently after another 10 people buzzing at reception someone finally appeared. For the price paid I would expect it to be much better. Really underwhelming!

This property is very run down. Furniture in the lobby is cracked, sticky and uncleaned. This hotel has very little staff. They spend there time policing the breakfast area. I was charged for $25 when I checked in on July 7th and was also billed again on my final invoice and again today July 17th when I checked out at 5am and breakfast starts at 6:30am. The breakfast is poor. Everything heated in an oven. Eggs in an oven are gross. I asked for scrambled eggs one day and the were microwave which is even worse. The rooms are not cleaned unless you schedule the day before with front staff. The room was dirty. Carpets needed vacuuming and the bath room floor was black when I wiped it with a cleaning wipe. The tube /shower was moldy. This property has been without a manager for 3 months. I was trying to call for two weeks before arriving i made 20 call, Expedia tried 8 times. No one ever answered. Nowseeing the property I understand why. There is no front desk. Two self serve kiosks and one computer with a wireless door bell for you to call someone from where ever they are hiding. The only phone is a cordless phone across the lobby in a corner. Now I know why it's never answered. As mentioned, no manager. This definitely shows in the staffs attitude and service level. The franchise should be looking into this. They have guest services/email and these people keep saying to call the hotel and ask for the manager. Hard to do with no Manager. Location to Royal Mile is only POSITIVE. I would like a real manager once hired to call me by telephone if it works. I want to be refunded for the two breakfast July 7th double paid and July 17th as I was gone before serving. I hope you find this review useful before you book this property.
