About Stewart by Heeton Concept

Edinburgh's mix of historic streets and city-centre convenience makes it an easy place to explore on foot, and Stewart by Heeton Concept puts guests right in the middle of it on Young Street. This is an apartment-style hotel with 31 rooms, each fitted with its own kitchen, en-suite bathroom and air conditioning, suited to those who want a bit more space and independence than a standard hotel room offers.

Rooms come with drinks provided, and practical extras such as a lift, free WiFi, luggage storage and a laundry service are on hand for longer stays or those travelling with more than a suitcase. Family rooms are available too. Check-in is self-service, which some find fiddly on arrival, and the standard of housekeeping has been inconsistent according to some who've stayed, though the staff are generally described as helpful once contacted.

The location is one of the property's strongest points, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment all close by, and Edinburgh Zoo within reach for a day out. Golf and fishing are also available nearby for those wanting to get outdoors, making it a workable base for exploring the city and its surrounding activities.

Absolutely stellar service. Our child forgot a keepsake in their room. The housekeeping staff and Lindsey went above and beyond in helping returning to us! We’re so grateful! Aside from this, we had a great experience. The rooms are well stocked and furnished with comfortable bed, AC and plenty of closet space. Shower was amazing with great pressure, if a little fussy with getting a good temperature. Everything was clean and staff very helpful and polite. The location is maybe 15min walk from old town and two minutes from coffee shops, restaurants and bars while still being on a nice quiet side street. Cannot recommend enough!!

This apartment hotel is subpar all around, from the check in process, customer communication, to the apartment quality, it’s all pretty bad. 1) check in: it’s a self check in process, with no advanced communication for how to unlock the building entrance door, even though the advertisement said there would be such a communication. We scrambled at the door until a kind cleaning crew member who happened to be outside clued us in on the code. In our stay we continued to see other guests struggled to get in. Unacceptable! Then we had to check ourselves in at a tiny kiosk with a poor user interface. We even had to make our own keys. We witnessed an international family struggling through it, 2) the apartment: the entire interior is what I would describe as “IKEA minus”. The furniture is as cheap as possible, somewhat toy-like, and well worn and dirty. The tables are chipped. The lamps feel like they would collapse on touch. The marketing photos of the interiors look great online, but that’s all they are—props that look good in photos. In reality, they are way cheaper than even IKEA furniture. The carpeting is the cheapest industrial carpet you can find. There are a few positive points. 1) the kitchen is well equipped and it even comes with a washer/dryer. 2) the cleaning crew member tried to help us as much as she could with various needs. 3) good central location, walking distance to all key points of interest But on balance, this is a poor facility, especially for $500 per night all in. I definitely DO NOT recommend it.

From the pictures I was expecting something different. I stayed in Room 14 which looks like it had not been properly painted in a while (also dark orange walls makes the room look darker) and there was a very loud fan noise coming from the bathroom. I tried to change rooms but unfortunately there was no other availability until the end of my stay. I think it had potential to be lovely with a lick of paint. I don’t think all rooms were in this condition but I drew the short straw. The location is the best part - very central with great restaurants and cafes around. I wanted to love it but was disappointing.

Clean rooms but tired decor and appliances. Has the feeling of a student hall of residence. Good location. 1 star for service as you need a code to get in and I wasn’t sent one. Luckily another guest turned up and let me in, otherwise I would have been stranded as no staff on site. Not recommend, but the hotel is ‘alright’ and a cheaper option if you want self-catered in a central location. Much better alternative is Roomzzz in St. James
