About The Raeburn

The Raeburn suits travellers who want a compact, comfortable base with a proper restaurant attached rather than a sprawling hotel experience. With just 10 rooms, it has the feel of a neighbourhood spot in the City of Edinburgh, and it works well for couples, food-focused visitors, or anyone happy to settle in one place for an evening rather than hunt for dinner elsewhere.

Rooms come with air conditioning, drinks, and free WiFi, and the hotel is set up for both leisure and business, with meeting rooms alongside more relaxed additions like a garden and gym. Staff handle the details, from porter and concierge services to valet parking and free on-site parking, which makes arriving by car straightforward.

The restaurant and bar are a genuine draw, with dishes such as fish and chips, bone marrow, and steak singled out, served by staff who are consistently described as warm and professional. It isn't the cheapest option for dinner, with some finding the food pricier than expected, but the quality and atmosphere go some way to justifying it. Edinburgh Zoo is a nearby point of interest, and Edinburgh Waverley station is 1.48 miles away, making the hotel a workable base for exploring the wider city.

My stay at De Raeburn in Stockbridge, Edinburgh was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was simply phenomenal. What stood out to me most was the incredible team. Every single staff member I came into contact with, from the reception staff, the manager, and the assistants to the restaurant team and everyone else behind the scenes was genuinely warm, welcoming, friendly, and eager to help. It is rare to experience such a consistently high level of kindness and professionalism from an entire team, and it made my stay incredibly special. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, and the restaurant was fantastic, with wonderful food and a lovely atmosphere. I also want to thank the staff for making me feel so at home and for graciously helping me with a few special requests during my stay. Their attention to detail and genuine care for their guests truly exceeded my expectations. I would wholeheartedly recommend Hotel de Raeburn to anyone visiting Edinburgh. The outstanding hospitality and exceptional people are what make this hotel so memorable. My heartfelt thanks to the entire team for such a wonderful experience, and I sincerely hope I have the opportunity to return again. Thank you, Marli Burris

Had a beautiful Sunday lunch here, staff were amazing especially Angus and the manager on shift. They really went the extra mile to make sure we were happy with our meal and were very kind and attentive. Sunday roast was amazing.

What a lovely place this was! Firstly, it's a lovely location, just off a couple of handy bus stops, and in the delightful Stockbridge part of Edinburgh- a more chill part of the city for cultured types to enjoy. Secondly, the staff are a real asset- they're friendly and warm, helpful, and made us feel incredibly welcome from the get-go. Wasn't any trouble checking in our bags early. Then you've got the rooms- ours, No. 1, was lovely. Plenty of space, charming decor, excellent bed, and the best bathroom I've had in a hotel for years. Good selection of complimentary items too. Nespresso pods were a bit limited, but the teacakes were nice surprise. Room was ever so slightly warm, but it didn't cause any discomfort in the night, and there wasn't any real noise past ten, though I should note the windows do let a bit in. Some bits of dust here-and-there, and there was some wear to the desk, but nothing a once-over can't fix. Bath was just heaven. Finally, the food. You must try the steak- well worth the extra cost. Kitchen team, supper or breakfast, were brilliant, as everything was lovely, made with real care. Good selection of Single Malt, as well. Overall, we're very pleased indeed, and can't wait to be back. Thank you to the lovely folks at the Raeburn!

A very disappointing lunch. There were 22 of us and the main courses were poor. The chicken pie was on a pot with a puff pastry lid and underneath was like a soup. Had to ask for a spoon. The steak frites chips with standard frozen ones and the steak was hardly chewable. We all tried but had to leave it. The cod fish was flavourless. Served with - we couldn’t decide it they were meant to be fish cakes or potato cakes. Braised fennel was very overcooked. Till is an able to work out they were.
