About Village Hotel Edinburgh

Village Hotel Edinburgh works well for travellers who want leisure facilities alongside their stay rather than just a bed for the night - families after a pool session, business visitors needing meeting space, or anyone breaking up sightseeing with a swim or a sauna. It sits on Crewe Road South with bus routes running into central Edinburgh, so a car isn't essential, though chargeable on-site parking is available for those driving up.

The hotel has 120 rooms across four floors, including family rooms and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi. Guests get the practical extras too - room service, drinks in the room, and a lift to save the stairs. On site there's a restaurant, a bar, a Starbucks, breakfast service, and kids' meals for families travelling together, plus a gym, indoor swimming pool and spa with a hot tub for downtime.

Staff are generally noted as friendly and professional, though service is occasionally described as inconsistent, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly. Beyond the hotel, the local area has pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, with golf, fishing and watersports also within reach for those wanting to venture further. The property also handles weddings and business meetings, making it a flexible base for more than just a city break.

A funky modern hotel on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Rooms have aircon, which is great, but no coffee machines or safes. I visited during the FIFA World Cup, so there was a good vibe in the bar and it stayed open late if required. Food quality was good. Plenty of parking and car charging available for tree-huggers. Receptionist was really friendly and helpful, but didn’t catch her name unfortunately. Conference facilities were modest, with noticeable noise transmission between the two rooms. I didn’t try the pool or gym but the facilities looked very good. Poor views (catch see central Edinburgh from there).

We were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. As a suggestion for improvement, we believe parking should be complimentary for guests, and slippers should be provided in the rooms for added comfort. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

A very late review from our stay between 27th–29th March 2026, but after looking back on our trip, this hotel absolutely deserves the recognition. From the very beginning, the service was excellent. I actually made a mistake when booking, and the gentleman I spoke to on the phone sorted everything out for me quickly and professionally with no hassle at all, which instantly took the stress away. When we arrived, the lady who checked us in, a white girl with dark hair whose name I unfortunately can’t remember, was genuinely lovely. She was friendly, welcoming, and easy to chat to. What really stood out was that when we checked out two days later, she actually remembered our earlier conversation where I joked that I’d basically come to Scotland just to be a tourist. It’s little touches like that which make a stay feel personal. The bar was great too. Good atmosphere, multiple TVs, and the bartenders were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was another highlight. Food came out incredibly quickly, was hot, fresh, and genuinely really tasty. Breakfast was a surprise as well, as I rarely ever eat breakfast when staying away, but it was so good I ended up having a full cooked breakfast both mornings. Our room was spotless, modern, and very comfortable. Everything felt clean and well looked after. Only very minor points, and nothing that would stop us returning:If you want to stream to the TV, it seemed much easier if you had a Samsung device. We both use Apple devices, and it looked like certain options required payment, which was a little frustrating. Also, connecting an HDMI cable wasn’t really possible due to where the TV was mounted. The only other tiny thing was there wasn’t a toilet brush in the bathroom. I completely understand why hotels sometimes remove them, but personally I always like to leave things as tidy as possible for housekeeping. We also used the spa facilities, which were fantastic. Lovely pool, steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi. The only small thing was the jacuzzi regularly stopping for cleaning cycles. I completely understand why and appreciate the cleanliness, it was just slightly frustrating when you’re relaxing, but honestly it’s a very minor thing. Overall, this was an excellent stay from start to finish. Fantastic staff, great food, lovely spa facilities, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. We would happily stay again and would absolutely recommend it.

We recently had our wedding here and my god it was incredible!! From start to finish the day was flawless. Megan - she is one incredible lady who made our day go so smoothly and the best coordinator we could have asked for. Emily - thank you so much, you were roped in last minute and done incredible at everything to help us!! Victoria & Hermoine - taking over in the evening - made everything run so smoothly and handled the busyness of everyone so well. You were a fantastic pair!! Soo accommodating when it came to the food, drinks & everything I was picky over. They made me feel so special and I was a relaxed bride - ALL THANKS TO THE STAFF!! The best experience we could have ever ever asked for!! Thank you so much - Mr & Mrs Dunlop x
