About The Royal Duchy Hotel
The Royal Duchy sits on Cliff Road above Gyllyngvase Beach, part of the Brend Collection of Cornish hotels, and has built a strong reputation for its kitchen, holding two AA rosettes for the quality of its cooking.
Most rooms make the most of the elevated position with sea views over the bay, and the hotel's public rooms and terraces are arranged to take advantage of the same outlook, particularly at sunset.
A short walk down to the beach and along the seafront into town keeps the hotel connected to Falmouth itself, while the restaurant gives guests a reason to stay in for dinner rather than head into town.

What guests say
Just had a lovely night stay here courtesy of the children for our Christmas gift.. Greeted warmly yesterday and our room was lovely, Immaculately clean, the best shower I have ever had in a hotel in the UK, and really comfy pillows and bed.. The pool area is the only thing that lets this place down. We would stay again. Thank you.

From the moment we parked the car, a very well dressed man called James welcomed us to the hotel with enthusiasm and warmth. The ambience of the hotel is superb and the views of the sea wonderful. The room was typical of a hotel; everything you'd expect of a 4 star accommodation; very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, and ample room for clothes to be hanged or put in draws. Oh, and also an easy to use small safe. When going to get the cases from the car I noticed a nail in my tyre that I had somehow picked up on the journey. James came to my aid giving me directions to a recommended garage where I could get this quickly; he was right. That was what we found the best experience of this hotel; the staff. They cannot do enough for you and the service is exceptional, We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening but the breakfast room overlooked the sea and was superb. I had the full cooked breakfast but there are a variety of fruits, cereal, etc. There is also smoked salmon if you like that for breakfast. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Enjoyed the stay from start to finish. So from us, highly recommended.

Went here for an afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was simply amazing the quality of the food was first class and the conservatory setting delightful. The smoked salmon was some of the best I have ever tasted. However there was one thing that I found very petty, charging for extra pots of tea. Never had that before. Just put your price up a little to cover the cost of an extra teabag!

The facilities are well functional. The moment I put the opened hand luggage in the closet and then the closet doors can be closed properly, I’m satisfied with the hotel. My partner says the food here is average (breakfast and bar food we had). Falmouth has open sea view and harbor sea view. If open sea view is more you thing and you come by train as we are, I would say this hotel is the best option.
