Hafod Station is a renovated railway carriage on the pebble beach at Dungeness, sleeping four across two bedrooms. Couples and small families will find the quirky setup manageable—a double in the main carriage and bunk beds in the adjoining space. The living room has a woodburner and French doors opening to the front, while the kitchen is equipped for self-catering with a full range of appliances including dishwasher and washer-dryer. A second carriage sits at the rear of the property, part of the unusual heritage layout that marks this out from conventional holiday lets.
The property sits directly on the beach, roughly 20 yards from the shingle, with a back garden and sitting-out area for quieter moments. There is private parking for two cars. Dungeness National Nature Reserve surrounds the location, offering walks across the marshland; the nearby lighthouse, local pub and restaurant are all within easy reach on foot. One dog is welcome and stays free. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi—are provided. No smoking is permitted indoors.

Great place to stay if you like a bit of quirkiness! Really tastefully renovationed the owner had clearly put a lot of effort into creating a unique space. We were made to feel very welcome and the Christmas decorations were a nice touch. The only comment I would make to advise other guests would be to take sturdy slippers with you as the flooring is uneven and slippery in places, to be expected, and the owner requests outdoor footwear is removed indoors. Fantastic weekend though in an atmospheric landscape well worth a visit.

One of or if not the most unique place in the UK! It is a holiday rental that the owner has created which is a train station with a real train carriage inside it from the war. It even has a train track, ticket office and looks like it is coming out of a tunnel! It has everything you need for a comfortable stay, sea views from your bed, steam trains nearby to see, beach within walking distance and an overall excellent location within Dungeness which is right next to the new lighthouse. There is quirkiness everywhere inside, from the road sign that is incorporated into a step leading to the carriage to the fairy-tale like guestbook, even the platform has a real train station light. Hafod station really comes to life at night and is really something else. The lights that light up the station and the underneath of the carriage are incredible! The attention to detail put into this place is really on another level and everything you see has something special about it! I had a wonderful experience here and look forward to coming back. If you are looking to stay in Dungeness you must stay here if you can!
