Wi Wurri opens straight into a ground-floor living space where the wood burner is the first thing you notice. The cottage is arranged for simplicity: two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a kitchen with a full range of appliances including dishwasher and washing machine, and a living room with a smart TV. Bedroom 1 has a kingsize bed and a bath with shower attachment; Bedroom 2 has a double bed and a cubicle shower. Everything you need is on one level.

The cottage stands on Dungeness's shingle foreshore, where the front opens to sea views and fishing boats; the back garden overlooks Romney Marsh. Parking accommodates three cars. A travel cot is available. Essentials like bed linen, towels, wi-fi, heating and wood for the burner are provided; one well-behaved pet stays free. The cottage does not permit smoking.

Dungeness is a working landscape unlike most of the English coast—a nature reserve of rare plants and birdlife, with the Dungeness New Lighthouse visible from the property. Prospect Cottage, Derek Jarman's former home and garden, is within walking distance. The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway steam trains run nearby. Families, couples and groups of friends all find it suits their needs; the reserve and beach make it equally good for active days or quiet retreats.

Love staying here. The accommodation has everything you need for a relaxing stay in Dungeness. The views are fantastic, and the location is perfect for exploring Dungeness and enjoying peaceful walks. It also feels really homely, and is one of the more affordable places to stay on the estate. The host is lovely and made us feel very welcome. Can’t wait to return again soon.
