About Bank Street Lodge

Free on-site parking is a welcome find for a hotel this close to the centre of Fort William, and Bank Street Lodge makes good use of its position, just half a mile from town and within reach of Ben Nevis. It's a straightforward, practical base for exploring the Highlands, with 24 hour reception for early starts or late returns from the hills.

Rooms are en-suite, with family and accessible options available, and come with drinks available on request. Breakfast is served on site, and there's a bar and restaurant for evening meals without needing to head out. Free WiFi covers the property throughout. Worth noting: the building itself is older and can creak underfoot, and sound insulation between rooms isn't always great, so it may not suit those who need total quiet.

The surrounding area caters well to outdoor pursuits, with golf, fishing, cycling, walking and watersports all nearby, plus horse riding and entertainment for a change of pace. Pubs and restaurants within walking distance make evenings easy, and the central location means most of Fort William's amenities are a short stroll away. It's a comfortable, no-fuss option for travellers prioritising location and value over polish.

Location is central in fort Williams and easy access to bus and train stops. Beds are squishy but ok, kettle is plastic, no desk in the room, poor window coverage and somewhat noisy outside, no fridge available, and not scenic at all, but it was a perfectly fine spot to rest up from hikes (with a good sleep mask and earplugs).

Stayed in the triple room with three single beds, and it was definitely a tight squeeze for everyone. That said, it worked fine since we didn’t spend much time in the room. The location is very convenient for exploring Fort William, though be prepared for a seriously steep hill to get there! The room doesn’t have air conditioning, but the staff can provide a fan upon request. They also offer laundry service for a fee if they have the capacity available, which can be helpful for longer stays. The unexpected highlight of the stay was the shower—absolutely impeccable water pressure, which was much appreciated after long days of walking around the city. Overall, it’s a practical and well-located option if you’re looking for a place to sleep while spending most of your time out enjoying Fort William.

Bank Street Lodge is in an excellent location in the centre of town, minutes from all amenities with friendly reception staff. This is budget accommodation but can fit the bill for a (sometimes) reasonably priced base on a visit to Fort William. There is limited handy private parking beneath the hotel building & adjacent public parking. I had room 28 and the otherwise lovely loch view was slightly compromised by a ‘blown’ double glazing unit on the window. I reported it at reception on departure. The room was warm, clean & comfortable though, with tea/coffee facilities and en suite. The interior of the building is creaky and internal sound insulation between rooms is poor. This wasn’t helped by other inconsiderate guests slamming doors and being generally noisy during my visit - not the hotel’s fault. Would I stay again? Yes, at the right price.

This is a simple affordable hotel in downtown Ft William. It is not luxury. For the price it was exceptional. I stayed here after finishing the west highland way. The staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable . The room was stocked with coffee, tea and kettle. Big towels and HOT water. I mention this because a lot of hotels control the water usage and temp of the hot water. If you are coming off the WHW you understand this. You cannot beat the location (close to everything and train station) and price of this hotel. I also had a nice view of downtown. If you are on a budget I highly recommend staying here.
