About Best Western The Alexandra Hotel
The Alexandra Hotel has stood on The Parade in the centre of Fort William for well over a century, and its position remains its main draw: the High Street, railway station and Jacobite steam train departure point are all within a few minutes' walk. The building retains a traditional Highland hotel character, with comfortable, straightforward rooms across several floors.
The hotel's restaurant and bar serve a broad menu of Scottish staples alongside more standard hotel fare, and the bar is a reasonably popular spot with both guests and locals in the evening. Facilities are geared towards practicality rather than luxury, suiting travellers who want a central base without a large price tag.
Its location makes it a straightforward choice for anyone travelling to Fort William by train or without a car, keeping shops, cafes and the start of day trips into Glen Nevis or Glen Coe within easy reach on foot or by local bus.

What guests say
Stayed for one night in a single room. Really old-school hotel which I loved. Loads of character. Staff were very friendly, especially reception and restaurant staff. The food in the restaurant was really great. Almost ordered everything twice it was so good. Great location - directly across from train station. Would love to stay again.

If youve ever wanted to spend the night in a room that smells like cooking grease and is the temperature of the sun somehow despite it being cool overnight, this might be the place for you. The bathroom was decaying, and absolutely nothing about it resembles the website. It was the end of the West highland way for us, and we slept better in hostels beforehand. The only positive was the location and the fact that it has a lift.

We were there for two nights. The beds are comfy and the breakfast was ok. Everything is a little old though. The only problem was, when I was asking at the front desk for tweezers, to remove some tiks, I was offered some scissors and the lady at the desk was more concerned, that we brought tiks into the hotel room, then that we needed something, to remove them. Also the shower is not really working. It has not much water and also not much water pressure. To be able to take a good shower, you have to cuddle with the wall, cause the water is not able to go far away from it.

I had an unpleasant experience with breakfast at this hotel. I stayed there for one night before doing the 3 peaks challenge. I called the hotel few days before to ask them about their vegan options for breakfast and they reassured me there will be vegan sausages and beans as well as plant milk, I needed to make sure there will be something for me to eat before such a difficult physical challenge. When I got there, there were no options for me and I had to look for someone to get me this. A man working at the reception was extremely rude asking me who was it that I spoke to and that I definitely didn't speak to him making me feel aa if I am being unreasonable for asking for diet options that I was told they would have before I decided to come in the first place. If you're vegan, you better be prepared - they will treat you as if you're a burden for asking for something they had already assured you they would provide.
