About Imperial Hotel
Thirty-six rooms make up the Imperial Hotel, set on Fraser Square in the heart of Fort William with Ben Nevis close by for anyone planning a day on the hill. The town centre itself is a short walk from the door, making this a practical base for exploring the Highlands without needing a car once you've parked it.
Rooms are kept clean and warm, and guests can expect a traditional cooked breakfast to start the day, with a restaurant on site for evening meals. Free WiFi, luggage storage and a 24 hour reception cover the practical side of a stay, while a laundry service and function space for weddings add further use for both short breaks and special occasions. It's worth noting that some rooms show their age and hot water in the showers isn't always reliable, so this suits guests after straightforward, good-value comfort rather than a polished, modern finish.
Free on-site parking is a genuine advantage in a town centre location, and staff are consistently noted as friendly and helpful. For those based here to walk Ben Nevis or explore Fort William and the surrounding Highlands, the Imperial Hotel offers a fair-priced, no-frills option right where the action starts.

This hotel was very interesting for me. The room was tidy and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean. It was also nice to have the breakfast included in the whole service. However there were two points that I was not quite happy about: 1. I had a large and heavy suitcase, which I had to carry up many (probably at least 4) flights of stairs, as there were no lifts in the hotel. So, unless you are travelling lightly, this is probably not the ideal hotel for you. 2. Despite following the instructions in the bathroom and leaving the tap on hot for 5 minutes, there was still no hot water coming out of the showers. I ended up washing my hair in the sink...... Many things about this hotel are still commendable, but we must also recognise the cons, right?

This review isn't my full stay so may edit it as my week progresses. Now like anyone and everyone I done some research before I arrived here and the reviews I read were very mixed or biased as some people say. Now it needs to be noted I have no control where my company books for work and have to admit ive stayed in some bad places in the past. Now one thing I did read was the damp smell in the corridors but this wasn't too bad to be fair. Its an old building its going to have a smell about it. Second was the hot water being none existent now if you read the notices dotted about your room saying run the hot tap in the sink to "remove the air lock" just do that. Trust me it actually works. Room was clean and tidy although a bit small but theres only me so fine for that purpose. I am in room 44 and one of the reviews I read mentioned about the electrics, now the socket nearest the bed does make a buzzing noise but still functioning now and again. Food is ok but found for me very little choice but when your hungry you will eat anything. All in all its not a bad hotel very central to everything and very limited parking spaces.

The Imperial Hotel in Fort William is very well located, within easy walking distance of the railway station and surrounded by several excellent breakfast options nearby. My single room was on the second floor of this charmingly old and rather labyrinthine building, which does not have a lift. The room itself was fairly simple and has clearly seen a number of guests over the years, but everything was clean, in good working order, and perfectly adequate for a short stay. The shower, in particular, was impressively good. At £70 for the night, the value for money is excellent. For a one-night stay, this is a solid and sensible choice, and I would happily recommend it on that basis. Staff rather neutral but effective.

Stayed at the hotel for two nights in May. It is outdated and many facilities do not work. It relies on its central location in town. We had the room at the top floor which does not have lifts! There was no hot water in the evenings and when we alerted the manager, he refused to believe it. Subsequently we were informed that a large group had arrived so had used up the water!! The telephones also did not operate. On the positive side the Italian restaurant has very good food. I would not stay here again ad rates are high compared to facilities.
