About Loch Leven Hotel
Step into one of the twelve rooms at Loch Leven Hotel and the first thing you'll likely notice is the view, with loch and mountain scenery visible from many windows including sight of Ben Nevis on clear days. Rooms come with the basics covered, though it's worth knowing that some have been reported as needing better upkeep, so standards can vary a little between them.
Downstairs, the restaurant serves dinner and breakfast, with homemade gins among the drinks on offer, and staff are consistently described as warm and attentive. Guests can also make use of an indoor swimming pool, a spa and sauna, a bar, a garden and free WiFi throughout, while those travelling with pets are welcome to bring them along. There's also a lift, meeting rooms and a wedding venue for those hosting an event, plus free on-site parking.
The hotel sits on Old Ferry Road in the Fort William area of the Highlands, with the town itself around 12.76 miles away by road and Ben Nevis providing a striking backdrop for anyone keen on walking or simply admiring the mountain from a distance.

What guests say
We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed Loch Leven Hotel. It’s definitely a no-frills hotel but strikes a comfortable balance between a B&B and more established hotel. The location is superb for quickly getting to the area’s mountain viewpoints or on the way to Fort William, Glenfinnan, or beyond. The grounds around the hotel are beautifully gardened and with amazing views. The restaurant staff is extremely friendly, care about your holiday, and share their own experiences living in the area. The gin selection and dinner were great! Breakfast is simple and you can ask for specific inclusions/exclusions. No A/C but a fan is provided, which is enough especially with the window propped open in the evening. I do think the bathroom and shower finishings could use an upgrade. Room service is upon request and the shower drain pools at your feet quite a lot. We would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel.

This is a review for the restaurant only. Cullen skink: very good. Creamy but not heavy. Richly flavored with smoked fish and leaks. Sea trout with potatoes: good but could be better. The fish was fresh and cooked very well, with moist, tender flesh and deliciously crispy skin, but was severely lacking in seasoning. The sides also needed a good amount of salt. The purée of squash was good by itself but there was so little of it, it contributed very little to the dish overall. Side of vegetables: steamed broccoli, broccolini, and carrots. Good. Mediterranean salad: Fine. The feta tasted a little off to us. The dining room has gorgeous views of Loch Leven. The staff was friendly, though on the night we visited slightly disorganized (they didn’t make a modification we requested, and forgot to put in one of our orders so it came out much later than we expected). Also, all the portion sizes felt a bit small. Don’t they know a lot of us have been hiking all day? For the price, which was on the high side, it would be nice to be completely satiated.

Beautiful location right in front of the Loch. But beware if you book a " classical double" room. You might end up in a tiny room, were the bed is so small you can't move at night, in dnger of falling off the side. The bathroom does not allow 2 person's at the same time. When asked to check our reservation to see if it was correct, they locked us saying they could measure the room if we liked. So rude, so much scam. They were fully booked and the did not even apologize for downgrading our reservation. Very dissatisfied on the room and on the service By the way, they offer the option of the small room for less price, that they sell as 'Classical Double' when they are full. Dont be fooled by them saying that the size can be different.. 4 and 5 are tiny rooms, and they sell them as that if you choose them.

The hotel is located right beside the lake, so the view from the restaurant is truly beautiful. However, not all rooms have a lake view, and if you don’t get one, the overall experience may not feel as enjoyable. The room itself was quite small, with barely any extra space to move around comfortably for two people. The food at the restaurant is quite expensive, and since the location is a bit secluded, there aren’t many nearby dining options—so you may end up spending more if you eat at the hotel. Breakfast was decent, but they assign tables, which means you might not get a lake-view table there either. One thing that made me uncomfortable was that I felt white guests were given more preference—better rooms and better tables. I could be wrong, but that was my impression during the stay. There is a large, aggressive dog near the path to the lake. Its loud, continuous barking was so frightening that it nearly gave me a heart attack and completely stopped me from going down to the lakeside.. Although it is kept behind a gate, it barks loudly and jumps in a way that feels quite intimidating. Because of this, I didn’t feel safe going down to the lake, and I noticed other guests avoided it too. I’m not sure if the dog is always there, but the owner should definitely address this issue, as it prevents guests from enjoying the lakeside fully. On the positive side, the room does have a fan, which is helpful. Overall, the location and views are beautiful, but the experience could be much better with improved room space, fair treatment, and better access to the lake.
