Family-friendly camping between Glastonbury and Wells with Tor views

About Greenacres Camping

Greenacres Camping sits on peaceful Somerset farmland between Glastonbury and Wells, with the Tor rising beyond open fields. This is family camping done thoughtfully: a four-and-a-half-acre play area gives children serious space to roam, while the site itself remains deliberately no-dogs, keeping things calm for younger visitors. Grass pitches suit tents, caravans and motorhomes, with or without hookup, and facilities are kept simple but well looked after—hot showers, clean blocks, shared fridges and a small library of books and games for rainy afternoons.

Owners are present and helpful, fire pits can be hired for evenings, and bikes are available to borrow for exploring quiet lanes. The location works well as a touring base: Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Longleat, Glastonbury and Wells are all within easy reach, and discount vouchers for several attractions are usually handed out on arrival. Small-scale and personal rather than resort-like, Greenacres keeps the focus on straightforward, family-oriented camping with plenty of elbow room for children and practical touches that make a difference over a few days under canvas.

What visitors say

John Marshall

We had a group booking of 14 pitches with 20 adults and 22 children (1yr - 17yrs) and some day visitors and what a weekend we had! The site is flat with large expanses of grass and big pitches. Thank you to the proprietors Beverley and Alan for the welcome and offered help. The children thought it was heaven with the facilities they had as well as the football nets. It was the first time for all the party at this campsite and all have said they hope to use it again. Clean facilities with lots of optional bits and pieces available to hire from hook up cables to fire pits and a BBQ. We would unreservedly recommend this site and hope to return to it in due course.

A really peaceful campsite. There's a small playground, garden games to rent, clean toilets, space to wash up, and beautiful spacious and flat pitches.

We have just had a short stay at greenacers campsite. It was absolutely lovely.\\nOwners were delightful and very friendly.\\nLocation was great for exploring local countryside, we rented bikes from the owners, these were properly sized and prepared for us.\\nIt was quiet but also had stuff for the kids to do which was perfect for us.\\nWould definitely stay again.

Great campsite for kids! We stayed with 3 children aged 5-8yrs and they loved it.\\nThe children can all play and make friends with so much space but within sight, perfect! The hosts were lovely and we all enjoyed the fire pit and roasted marshmallows. Amazing to stay in a campsite which genuinely loves and caters for the little ones!
