About The Grasmere Hotel
The Grasmere Hotel has been trading as a family-run country hotel since 1871, occupying a stone building at Broadgate on the edge of the village with a garden running down to the River Rothay. Its eleven rooms are traditionally furnished, and the hotel has built its reputation locally on its bar and restaurant as much as its accommodation.
The restaurant serves a menu built around Cumbrian produce, and the bar is a popular stop for walkers coming off the surrounding fells, with a garden terrace used through the warmer months.
A short walk from the village green and the start of several fell paths, the hotel suits visitors wanting a straightforward, well-established base without the scale or pricing of the larger spa hotels nearby.
Guests mention this hotel offers comfortable rooms and excellent facilities, including a pool, sauna, and a beautiful garden leading to a river. They also highlight the delicious and imaginative food, especially the breakfast and evening restaurant offerings. Visitors appreciate the welcoming and accommodating staff, who provide attentive service.
