Abergafren Lodge

Gwynedd

Abergafren Lodge is a single-bedroom retreat on the Dwyryd river estuary, set back from the water with its own garden and sitting area. The whole property is yours alone, with a ground-floor layout that flows from living space through to a bedroom and bathroom. A woodburner and Smart TV occupy the living area; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, with electric oven and hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Both bedroom and living room open directly onto the patio, where you can use the garden furniture and BBQ. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included.

The cottage suits couples seeking a quiet retreat by the water. A pub is within a mile's walk, and the village of Penrhyndaedraeth is close by with shops, restaurants and takeaways. Portmeirion's Italianate architecture lies just along the beach. Black Rock Sands and Pwllheli beach are easily reached, and the Llŷn Peninsula—designated for its natural beauty—offers coastal and mountain walks where you might spot dolphins, seals and seabirds. Harlech Castle is a short drive south. The property is on the edge of Snowdonia National Park and near Porthmadog, where the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway runs. No smoking; not suitable for children under 18. There is a free public car park 25 yards away. Check-in is after 16:00, check-out before 10:30.
